Best Hornline Movement

Recommended Posts

'82 SCV. Horn ripple after Bottle Dance. Best I've ever seen. Of course, it wasn't supposed to be there, but it was still a nice. B)

Are you referring to technique. Then I would have to say the Blue Devils. But if your asking about drill then the Cavaliers.

In my opinion, definitely not the Blue Devils. They didn't sound too good on finals night.... My choice is Phantom Regiment for their dark sound, and the Cavaliers for their nice, crisp, clean sound they always have.

When SCV moves their horns, you can hear the air being displaced so rapidly that it makes a sound wave. This phenomena is also common with lighning bolts, and roundhouse kicks from Chuck Norris.

HAHA, I like this guy!

I meant visual technique.

If you're talking about body movement using the instrument as an extension of the body, I don't like most of it. I really don't like that "Ooooh I'm scared" thing that a few corps have done where they crouch, look around, and put their palm face down to the ground while walking slowly. The Phantom horn guy who got kidnapped by the devil did that this year at finals, and SCV has done it a number of times.

I can agree with that statement 100%. Anytime you ask the hornline to try to physically act out an emotion ... well, it usually ends up being fairly goofy, if you ask me.

As for choreography or body movement by the hornline, I've not seen anybody that beats Star '93.

Um....Blue Knights ENTIRE mellophone line did a barrel turn last summer, WITH thier horns in thier hands! Most colorguards cant do that.
