Regarding jet packs, my question is, why aren't they possible now?

I was watching a replay of Superbowl I (1967) on ESPN Classic the other day,

and part of the opening cerimony was two guys flying around (very well)

on very real jet packs...why don't we have them today?

And can you imagine what Zingalli could have done with those?

The funniest part of that is it's actually believable

Tell it to the timing judge! I understand the outlook is good that one day he'll be able to look at a shako without bursting into tears.

3. Trinity- The Seguin Corps fields it's first div 1 corps 98.725

With "The Hollands" still in command? PFFT. not likely.

More like

24. Trinity - The Seguin Corps fields it's first Div. I Corps . . . and after four weeks of all-days, folds four days into tour. again. :sshh:

(Anyway)

All of the Corps from California will be forced to have "Of Arizona Bay" in their names by 2017, due to the sinking of the state of California, thanks to Los Angeles. (Bill Hicks, anybody?)

The Blue Devils of Arizona Bay

The Santa Clara Vanguard of Arizona Bay

The Esperanza of Arizona Bay

(Paradox Drum & Bugle Corps, out of Miami, FL, will take Finals for Div. I. :P )

They aren't possible now because they are impractical. Unlike what you see in cartoons, jet packs require a self-containing energy source like hydrogen peroxide or some form of explosive fuel. This allows very little air time. As such, they are expensive. Now try playing an instrument while operating a jet pack that has little control and you have one recipe for not only a disaster, but the liability costs would be astronomical. :worthy:

In an episode of MythBusters, according to an urban legend, a jetpack or rocketpack may be affordably built from plans purchased off the Internet. The jetpack produced by the MythBusters was not powerful enough to lift itself off the ground, and was expensive to build.

Budgets are tight enough in corps without having to add unneccesary costs with little value (like amps for instance).
