This is really interesting. I posted this question in three different forums for a reason. In all three I see very different answers. Gives a very interesting perspective. Keep 'em coming!

For Senior Corps, I'm partial to the Bucs (of course)....so I have to add:

Russian Sailor's Dance (79 or 80 version)

En Sueno (1981?)

Ballet in Brass (1982?)

1984 (the concert number...I forget the name....those screaming sopranos at the end simply make me poop my pants)

Thanks for opening the topic. Lots of great memories from the responses so far...

I'll add some from 2 favorite Seasons:

'64 Seniors:

SKY-- Allies on the March, Miserlou

HURCs-- Heatwave, Bill Bailey

BUCs-- Mutiny on the Bounty, El Cid, Beyond the Sea

SUN-- the Whole Show!

'65 Juniors:

Kevin's-- All the Things You Are, This Nearly Was Mine

Garfield-- Maria

SAC-- What's New/Laura

Royalaires-- the Whole Show!

Hope my memory serves correctly on which years... but the '60s were all phenom times for D&B!!!

Again, so many good songs, so much great music through the years, it's hard to pick favorites. Here's the first that come to mind among the senior corps I saw most and knew best. I'm also dating myself as you'll soon see!

Sky: "Little Old New York" 1972 OTL with the original 'traffic jam'

"Every Street's a Boulevard," 1964 exit

"Lucretia MacEvil" 1972-73 concert

Cabs: "Johnny One Note" 1963, the original version

"Captain from Castile" OTL 1970-71

"Samba d'Orpheus" 1970-72, exit (one of my all-time favorites to

play)

Hurcs: "Heat Wave" 1964-65 concert

"Rhapsody in Blue" 1969-70 concert

"Walk on the Wild Side" 1969-70

Sun: "Quintet" from "West Side Story" OTL 1965

"Procession of the Nobles" 1969 OTL

"Dulcinea" & "Man of LaMancha" 1970 exit

Bucs: "Beyond the Sea" multiple years, esp early '60's

"Give It One" (I think that's the title) 1972-73 concert

"Russian Sailor's Dance" OTL 1972 (with reprise to close the show

I believe)

Matadors: "Mexican Hat Dance" 1973

"Rocky" 1977

Yankee Rebels: "Dixie / Robert E. Lee / Alexander's Ragtime Band" OTL

1969-70

"Requiem For an Era" 1969 the original, the best

Les Diplomates: "Madame Butterfly" 1964 (?)

"Espana" 1970

Rochester Crusaders: "Goldfinger" 1965 concert

"St. James Infirmary" 1969 (?) concert

Lots of great memories, both from live performances and treasured recordings. Thanks for starting the topic.

I was thinking this was just about "senior" corps, but since I now see it isn't ...

Yeah, Sacs "In the still of the night" (Gives me chills listening to the 62 AL Champ disk)

Reilly's classic "Stardust"

Agree on Skys "Miserlou"

Agree on Cabs "Cherry Pink"

(all above for outstanding solo sop work)

St. Kevins entire 62 show was unbelievable, and only 35 horns.

What I find more telling is how people from Sun, Sky, Cabs, Hurcs, whatever all selected music played by their competitors. It seems to me that "back in the day", DC was more a fraternity than I get the impression it is now. Can't swear to it, but that's the impression I get. It seems more competitive and adverserial than it used to be. I always found it difficult listening to guys I idolized, like Bucky Swan or Tommy Martin and Skys unreal bass line, and hoping we were good enough that night to beat them.

How many on DCP remember members from all corps in a show jamming together either before or after a show - playing each others music? Bet not many.
