gsksun4
Speaking of those were the days, don't forget "APPLEBLOSSOM TIME". If you never heard it, I can't explain about the Corps that played it or the sound of their hornline. Wasn't it Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White? Hawthorne Caballeros 1959. Oh wait. Just read back a few posts. The Geneva Appleknockers did Apple Blossom Time in 1966 & 67. Wasn't Ken "Ace" Peterson a part of all that? MikeD
Dating myself...Sunrisers: Clair de Lune and Prelude to the Lords Prayer (63-64) Skyliners: Tenement Symphony (62?) Princemen: Bie Mir Bist Du Shein (61-62) Cabs: 1962 entire show Crappy memory - there are tons more that aren't coming to me at the moment:( Agree on Archies Lord and Master, though. I know Sky did that tune in 63, as I used to have a 3-record set of the '63 Dream. Along with "Down by the Station".
Fran Haring
I know Sky did that tune in 63, as I used to have a 3-record set of the '63 Dream. Along with "Down by the Station". Oh man..... "Down by the Station" was a GREAT Dreitzer chart! And the soprano duet in that tune..... that's up there with the duet in the Blue Devils' "Dindi" at the top of my list of best drum corps brass duets ever. Sayre Kulp
What about the duet from Dreamgirls? Honestly made me decide to learn to play horn. No joke.

JohnZ
What about the duet from Dreamgirls?Honestly made me decide to learn to play horn. No joke. (And I am Telling You) I'm Not Going I swear this one Sky tune keeps coming up year after year as a personal favorite and defining senior corps piece. When I hear it mentioned or performed, it vividly brings back so many old memories of show nights and drum corps experiences where I competed against or stood in the parking lot with Skyliners of that day. A must listen for anyone who really 'gets' drum corps.
ohhappyday
"Sea Hawk" was 1980 (toughest part I ever played while marching)What year did Cavies play "Eleanor Rigby"? That had to be great, but I don't remember it. I remember Blessed Sac playing it around 1968 or 69. The Cavies played "Eleanor Rigby" in 1966 or 1967. MikeD
The Cavies played "Eleanor Rigby" in 1966 or 1967. Hmmm....I think it was 1970...they based their chart on a Boston Pops chart, if mhy memory serves. I loved the BS version...69 and I think 70 as well. It was their coming out of concert tune...very true to the original...some neat short solo work. In 69 it led into one of my favorite drum solos ever...followed by the great "Free Again" closer. BS 69 is one of my all-tme favorite shows, as you can see! :P
