reb1039
It may be of interest to those of you familiar with the saga of J Birney Crum Stadium and the future of DCI East in Allentown to know that the DCI East Committee has been informed that DCI will return to Allentown in 2008. The show will go back to the first weekend in August, just prior to the championships in Indy. It will also go back to being held on Friday and Saturday night. When J Birney Crum's upper deck was declared unusable in 2006 there was talk of the show moving after the 2007 event. At least for 2008 it will not move. No decisions have been made on the location of the show after 2008. The upper deck of the stadium is still in place but still off limits for any event being held in the stadium. I have been informed monies are being sought to make repairs to it. but this may be a long shot given the financial condition of the Allentown School District. We recieved another interesting bit of information on this years show, as of now it is planned for the Reading Bucs to perform in exibition on Saturday night and the Bridgemen Alumni to return again and perform on Sunday night. Both exibitions will be at 6:30 prior to the competition.

supersop
Too bad the Alumni/All Age corps can't perform during the tabulation break when the stands are full and the lights are on. It's better than hearing foot stomping and unison claps while waiting for scores to come out.

kevingamin
Claps in Allentown? maybe for the Cadets And SCV And BD And Cavies Etc, etc. I've been to Allentown the past 4 years. This is not a sit-on-your-hands crowd by any means.
Herbel
the upper deck was SOO uncomfortable at J. Birney. Not worth the money for the tickets at all.

drumcat
I may be a tiny minority, but I really hope that the Philly area show gets a facility upgrade. Allentown is fun, but it's a PITA for the corps, it's a PITA for fans, the facility is ok if you don't like a high view, and it's generally not the best of neighborhoods. That said, they have a wonderful organization and fantastic volunteers. I just hope that a better or fixed facility is in the future. It's historic, but let's not kid ourselves like this is Fenway or Wrigley... I'd prefer to see it at the Linc.
UNCGQ
Let me state for the record that I'm no fan of Penn (esp that 'area' in general) but it seems to me that the "Allentown Experience" is so much a tradition it'd be a shame to see that show go. I hate "going" (the process of gettign there and back) but love the event. I mean, the endless paths in the warm-up area, an awesome crowd, etc. Gotta love Allentown for being "Allentown" Edited April 12, 2007 by UNCGQ
