"Pride of Oklahoma" - University of Oklahoma.

Best thing about The Pride - Good bowl games, at least in the mid-late 80's. Orange Bowl, etc. And playing in front of 78,000 @ home. Good times.

Well and later on the "SOSU Marching Band". Transferred because they gave me a full ride to play even though I was an MIS Major. Was a heck of a shock on games days going from big stadium, etc. to 13,000 or so in the stands.. :P

Kent State University Golden Flashes Marching Band....1980-1984. All 150 of us!!! Drum corps style at its finest.

After several changes in directors, Mr. Michael Lee comes to Kent State to serve as the first Director of Athletic Bands. Drum and Bugle corps style of marching is introduced to KSU. 1981!!!

Fight on for KSU! Fight for the Blue and Gold!

We're out to beat the foe;

fight on brave and bold!

Fight on for victory,

don't stop until we're through,

We're all together, let's go forward, KSU!

(Side note: OU Band Su*ks...just kidding...I had a lot of friends that marched there).

I spent 5 hazy years in the USC Trojan Marching Band (89-93).

Got kicked out and then elected tuba section leader the next year! Ironically, the band was so anti-corps that is was very corps-like in its hierarchy!

Old School Big Ten High Step Marching Band, yah baby! About as far away from drum corps as you can get. It was a GAS!

During my undergrad years I marched with the Pride of West Virginia (WVU)... Aside from the fact that I had to because I was a music major, it got me into games free. :) It didn't exactly help me with my marching techniqe as it pertains to Drum Corps, but it was fun.

Where did you march, if anywhere?

Any other WVU grads out there?

Patrick

West Chester University ... which was an absolute blast.

My first year there, I marched right next to Tom Aungst. Next thing I knew, I was wearing a maroon shako. lol.

Drexel Institute of Technology ROTC Marching Band (before I joined Reading)

Also wrote and taught at Kutztown University (then Kutztown State College)

Talked to Jim Wells at West Chester State College (now WCU - are we sensing a pattern here?) about working with his band. Couldn't get along with the drum faculty.
