Ghost Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Congratulations on another great year for the whole organization. Everyone involved must be commended on staying the course when the input from some was not very positive. Because of the confidence the BD family has, which I admire, let me present a challenge. Go out in 2011 and present a more traditional Drum & Bugle Corps show. Doesn't necessarily have to be of your all-times musical hits, but something where more of a song is played and probably in your face. Prove to the fans that you can still win it all without props, but with a standard show that will leave everyone wanting more. The only problem might be the judges! Best regards, Ghost Quote
Michael Boo Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Hey, Ghost; would you encourage the drum line to put in some "cosmic beats"? (This is a reference that will only mean something to anyone who was at the DCI Rules Congress in the mid-1970s when Ghost was writing for and instructing the Argonauts drum line.) Quote
Todd Tanji Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Dear Ghost, Thanks for being polite about it. Quote

You might be referring Mike to the original "Ghost" who I marched with in the mid 60's. Believe he came to Boston from the Cambridge Caballeros with House (bass drummer) and several others. Ghost would go on a 7-10 day road trip with one average size gym bag. Quote
cjp87 Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 While I loved the show this year, I wait every year for BD to return to straightforward and all out tunes. Rock the house and leave nothing to the imagination, one more time (if you get my drift). But, I will continue to love their shows if they continue to put them out at the caliber they have for the last quarter decade or so. Quote
Big Bad Bari Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I love the Blue Devils no matter what they do on the field! Always have... always will... I hope the Blue Devils keep pressing forward into uncharted waters... Sometimes we will love what we see and other times we will hate it... But rest assurred that we will always see something from them that is fresh and unusual! Thats refreshing in this activity... Quote

Lance Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Congrats to BD on the amazing win this year. Best of luck to other corps catching up in 2011. Quote
Todd Tanji Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 BD has never been the light-hearted entertainment corps. Other corps do a better job of that. BD is ultimately about virtuosity and pushing performance limits. Many people don't like that and that is fine. There are other corps for you. But many of us live for it and are glad we have BD doing it for us year after year. Quote
