Jeff Ream
According to CorpsReps, Bush had already won Prelims, in which Cabs, who lost Finals by one tenth, had placed third in Prelims behind Empire. So it would seem odd for Cabs fans to have any expectation of winning Finals. Was their performance just so good that people figured they must have jumped Bush? Or did Empire give an excellent performance so that their fans were shocked by a drop to third? Bush really wasn't even a contender until the very end. Westshore, Empire and Cabs had traded wins all season. The week before Westshore had the highest score in the circuit and a few weks prior had won the big Scranton regional. Westshore had been unbeaten in drums til finals weekend as well

BigW
Was that whole incident part of why the now notorious "Bushwacker Rule" was pushed through around that time?

DCI is more mom's and dad's families and other age outs on the whole. Probably a smattering of experienced drum corps peeps as well as teachers who brought their band students. At DCA, if this year is indicative of the normal demographic, you have corps alumni, educators, ex adjudicator, and ex staff, corps administration's and creative desogners. And of course the families of those participating. Wouldn't you question the results when a crowd comprised mostly of experienced drum corps people show such disapproval? I'm not contesting your position - although I admit to being skeptical. Wondering where you got your facts - statistics? From DCI? Surveys? Curious. Fran Haring
From the DCA website (the "historical scores" link at the bottom of the "scores" page): 1990 DCA Championship - Prelims 1. Bushwackers 96.300 2. Caballeros 95.500 3. Empire Statesmen 95.200 4. Westshoremen 94.700 DCA Championship - Finals 1. Bushwackers 96.900 2. Empire Statesmen 96.800 3. Caballeros 96.200 4. Westshoremen 94.300 Also.... according to the scores listed for that season, Bushwackers beat the Caballeros at least twice in 1990 prior to the championships, and tied the Cabs for first at a show in Derby, CT, the weekend before the championships.

Pete China had brought me back to work with Sun after Glenn Eng left and their show was... ahhh.... rough. Lotta fun working with a lot of great people. That's one of those years where succeeding was a lot more than a score or a placement. 1. Bushwackers 96.900 2. Empire Statesmen 96.800 3. Caballeros 96.200 4. CHRISP
We did beat Cabs a couple of times during the season. I believe the first time we beat Empire was at prelims.
Donny Drum Corps
yep...Empire beat Bush in Gloversville? by many points the last time we saw them, and were surprised at least to see them climb so fast. So that was the first time Bush beat Empire I am pretty sure.
