Wave of the future...

How long until corps start using a variation of this type bus to travel with? Will it help? Better rest, better rehearsal? Is floor time, where a corps member can actually stretch out, that big of a deal? When I marched in the mid 90's we got a good portion of our sleep on the bus, floor time was awesome if we could get it...

Bonus question..would this make housing sites change? Now all you need is a field and showers. No need for a gym floor.

Several corps already have this type of bus for staff and volunteers.  With only 24 beds per bus you would need 7 buses for members rather than the current 3. To expensive for any corps to consider.

This kind of arrangement would change the makeup of the buses.  Now, sections sit together but, with this setup, they'd be grouped by sex.

I wonder how this might affect section cohesion.

Ah, Mr. Garfield. You are answering with the perceptions of a parent not as a MM. MMs who go to secular colleges with coed dorms and showers, off campus shared apts., and the challenge which several corps already face of MMs of mixed sexes already living as if spouses in the off season and having to separate (one bedroll/one body DCI housing protocols) for gymnasiums stays.

Sure there have been corps like the Pembroke Imperials used to travel with males on certain buses, females on the other; and they weren't even a Boston CYO corps.

I am concerned that in this narcissistic age whether such buses will limit conversations and social interactions (beyond texting) for those times not for sleeping. Cavies once ruled not to have cell phones to build a better interaction. Will it happen now that you show sponsors won't have to find the big gyms?
