rpbobcat Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I know this was probably posted already but just in case it wasn't or someone forgot. I was just going through the DCI Yearbook I got in Allentown. According to an article on page 10,DCI will not have any national T.V. broadcast this year.It was apparently suspended due to costs. They do confirm in the article that they will be selling dvd's. So unless you are part of the DCI fan network and want to watch on your computor the only way to see the corps during final's week is tomorrow night in theaters. Quote

The broadcast didn't hurt attendance last year. This was old news months ago, however.... Quote

This very well may be true but do you think it wasnt brought up after the success of people paying to view on their computers that WHY give it away? Just a thought Quote

That's like saying, why would you go to a pro football game when you can stay at home and watch it on TV? But yet probably every team in the NFL sells out every game every season. And tickets are a LOT more expensive. It's a whole different experience in person. And plus, watching on a computer screen is even less of an incentive to stay at home and watch. Quote

This was announced, if I remember correctly, early winter or something, long before they were taking subscriptions for this year's Fan Network. Quote

I'm not sure what you're saying, Scott. I'm not criticizing, I'm just a wee bit lost. FYI, not every NFL game sells out. Because of that, the NFL has a blackout rule. Let's say Steelers are home and the game is being broadcast nationally, the local Pittsburgh area cannot get that game live unless the game is sold out 24 hours in advance of game time. I'll say I love the Fan Network, but that helps me see shows I would not see live anyway. The FN is exciting, but to me it's too fuzzy to replace seeing a live show, and too fuzzy to replace the DVD's which I definitely plan to buy (great year!). Are we agreeing? PCSoprano9702 Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 The myth in the 1960s was that people wouldn't go to a ball game they could watch for free at home. The opposite has proven true as people want to be apart of the action they see on TV. Pro-ball ticket prices have soared, in real dollars, since the era of live broadcast. Quote
JimF-LowBari Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 If I wanted to see a corps show, the last #### place I'd look is the ESPN program..... Two hours of commercials, talking heads, laundry day , and a few minutes of horns, drums and guard doing their show. Quote
