drumcorpsfan4567 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 http://www.kpho.com/news/19931929/detail.html "TEMPE, Ariz. -- A utility vehicle and trailer were stolen from The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps only days before the group leaves on its annual summer performance tour. The equipment was stolen Monday in the area of Broadway Road and the Price Freeway in Tempe, police said. The musicians in the academy, ages 16 to 21, were selected from more than 250 applicants and have been preparing since January to participate in the Summer Music Games of Drum Corps International, said the group. The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps is one of the programs of The Arizona Academy of the Performing Arts, an organization that's cut its spending budget as much as it could, Executive Director Mark Richardson said. Richardson said replacing the vehicle and trailer would cost about $12,000 that they don't have. There was no insurance coverage on the equipment. Richardson said he wanted the public to be aware and contact the academy if the equipment is seen. The trailer's Arizona license plate is J54747, Richardson said, and the utility vehicle is a green 2005 Ausa "Task." People who know of the whereabouts of the vehicle or trailer please are asked to contact Booster Club President Bill McGinn at 480-201-4047." Quote

drumcorpsfan4567 Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 It most certainly does suck...I sure hope everything turns out ok. I believe Teal Sound had stuff stolen from them last year too (money maybe?) and I'm sure it poses a huge setback for a corps. Hopefully someone will find their stuff. Quote
Abbevillekid26 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 That's awful I hope someone can help them with this Quote
big old drummer man Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 what would someone do with all this stuff? unless it's a band somewhere... Quote
JimBurnell Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Assuming that the picture in the article is the equipment that was stolen, you'd think it would be a dumb thing to steal, since it's so easy to spot. I don't see too many tractors and pit trailers on the roads these days. Quote
Kyle B Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 It does suck. Last year I found my corps equipment truck missing from it's parking lot only to later confirm that the trailor with all the equipment (and luckily no uniforms or scaffoldings) was stolen. There was insurance on it and everything was replaced. Question...why no insurance?? Quote
dmfootworks Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 (edited) No insurance? Edited July 3, 2009 by dmfootworks Quote
soccerguy315 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 1. this is terrible 2. they should have insurance. Would it be possible for all DCI corps to get on the same policy regarding equipment theft? That would probably push the price down for each individual corps. Quote
arno0940 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 No insurance - yikes. Hopefully some of the corps taking time off can lend them some equipment. Quote
