  2. The halloween post I did earlier gave me an idea - What drum corps show themes (or titles) will we never see? I'll start "Cesario Bathing in Chocolate" "Swear Words in Braille"

  4. I posted this on another thread, but it probably fits better here. How about "My Dinner with George," a show that features no discernible action, but has two MMs and only two MMs who suspiciously look like George Hopkins and Michael Cesario talking about their lives on the 50 yard line for twelve minutes? And then there could be a show, "Waiting for Guardot," where the guard never shows up.

  5. And people call me Jurassic! Would this be a show that features no discernible action, but has two MMs and only two MMs who suspiciously look like George Hopkins and Michael Cesario talking about their lives on the 50 yard line for twelve minutes?

  7. In the spirit of "My Dinner With Andre," I give you "My Spiritual Luncheon With Yepremian and Blanda."

  8. Ya, well, wait till that Cesario costume shows up on the DCI field of competition some day. You just might need 3 months of therapy for nightly nightmares.

  11. Or a Chicago retrospective entitled "25 Or 6 To 4." Wait...that makes too much sense.... Actually, you had a possible idea when you mentioned DOS. Just change it to "DOH!!" --- Homer Simpson meets the Pillsbury Doughboy.

  12. Didn't mind DOS all that much. The Command Prompt is your friend. Now, back to DCI.....

  13. Guard trophies for BD: 84, 86, 90, 92, 95, 97, 98, 99, 03, 06, 08, 09,10,11,12,13,14,15. (In 2004, they won guard in Finals by 0.3. If captions were averaged, Green won. If not, throw this one on the pile.) Ironically, 84 and 86 were AGAINST great Scott Chandler/Spirit teams. Before 1975 BD was not known for their top-3 finishes, either.

  14. No not Bob or DOS (as a software programmer). Please no! How about Something Somewhere Sometime or condensed letters of the alphabet. A show titled Z or C or T or M ...

  15. I never figured out in kindergarden and 1st grade why we honored and saluted " Richard Stands " each day. I figured out pretty quickly though that he must've been a very.., VERY... big deal though. It wasn't until much later , that I figured out we were actually saluting the Flag in the Pledge of Allegiance for..... " which it stands ",...not that guy that nobody I knew seemed to know in any of my kindergarden & 1st grade classes.

  16. Troopers' center snare of the past 5 years could have walked into any DCI snare line anywhere. Instead, he chose to age out with Troop and help build the corps. He's a talented and level-headed young man, and has my endless respect.

  17. Many of the Alumni corps originally re-formed for a "one more time" gig, big parade or local celebration of sorts, kind of like when 27th Lancers got back together to do the DCI championship performance in Foxboro back in '94. A portion of those "one more time" folks decided that they wanted a "few more times" and kept them going, but I think after a few years the slate of performances, parades, and especially rehearsals starting wearing on the older bodies and life and families got in the way. People got it out of their systems and went back into fan only mode. I know some of the members of Light Brigade expressed as much when they made their decision to disband several years ago. Even with corps that have "active" feeder units, the Alumni units are "local" and the marching members of the "feeders" may not be...case in point, Boston Crusaders-how many current members of the DCI Crusaders hail from the greater Boston area? My guess is a VERY small minority. I think one of the things that certainly didn't help the shrinking attendance at the Alumni Spectacular is the fact that a couple years ago, DCA stopped including that event in their ticket packages...now, those who attend have to make a decision as to whether to purchase a ticket and attend, rather than "we paid for it anyway, we might as well go". Inclement weather will REALLY leave a lot of empty seats, fortunately that hasn't been an issue YET. Having to hike half way around the stadium to get to the box office from the parking area, especially for a target audience that is not getting any younger and has mobility issues to begin with, certainly doesn't help matters any.

  18. Hmmn: 76 horns with 16 mellophones (and a mention of "if you audition on French horn...." bringing back great memories of last summer's feature.) That looks like 76-16= 60 which might break down to 24 trumpets, 24 baris, and 12 tubas. or is it 22 trumpets, 22 baris and 16 tubas? This "Common Corps" math is getting to me already, ha, ha. I am definitely ole skool. :-)
