  1. I love Texas. The hashs are the same for High School and College. Makes things alot easier. It gives more time to figuring out all the other little secrets about a field, like the bottom of the numbers is 11 1/2 steps from the sideline and the tops ar 14. Of course, that only works if the aren't weird.
  2. So earlier people were saying how the dictionary works both ways and since the word sport wasn't in the definition of Drum Corps then it couldn't be one. Well I was bored so I did a little looking at both www.dictionary.com and www.webster.com. I looked at football, baseball, basketball, hockey soccer. None of those five had the word sport in their definition. They all said game. Well football had the word sport on the page (dictionary.com) but it wasn't in the actual definition. Oh well. I also looked up Drum and Bugle Corps on webster. com. It didn't have it. It suggested dermatologists....
  3. Pulled this from DCI.org from about a year and a half ago: Drum corps is a sport: An essay Going by any definition given in any dictionary, Drum Corps is a sport. Going by the definitions that members on the forum have given, then no it isn't. My thought is that it doesn't realy matter. My love for the activity would not be changed if it were decided either way that it was/was not a sport (though I might give a big cheer if it was).
  4. You said there was booing when Scouts score was announced. What are the chances that some of that was blooing instead? I know that's what happened in 04. At least it sounded that way from the field. I hope nobody was actually booing.
  5. I"m just waiting for Bluecoats to do Autumn Leaves again. I think it would be absolutely amazing with the talent they have now. Maybe mix in a little Bridge Over Troubled Water in there too. I haven't seen Crown's 99 (Jekyll and Hyde) show yet, but it is probably the one I most want to see. The musical is absolutely amazing and I just want to see and here it on the field. If you haven't heard the musical, get the Original broadway cast recording. Amazing.
  6. After an exciting semis night with madison passing BD and Bloo just .1 behind BD susspense is built up as the words "and in 6th place..........the Blue........." and the power dies in the stadium. I'm want bloo in 5th (4th idealy) but it probably wont happen. Like i've said before though, I don't mind being wrong. Other than that. Crossmen in 12th would be wonderful. I'm rooting for SCV. It's a really good show. We'll just have to wait and see.
  7. I'm not thinking any movement tomorrow. Same order. Little different in the captions, but overall the same. No big surprises tomorrow. But I could be wrong.
  8. Wow, I like the votes so far. Madison on last and a tie between Coats and PR for second to last. That would have been nice.
  9. 1 Madison Scouts 89.000 2 Bluecoats 87.500 3 Santa Clara Vanguard 83.000 4 Glassmen 81.400 5 Seattle Cascades 75.600 6 Southwind 75.150 7 Capital Regiment 75.05
  10. Slight correction: According to DCI.org Colts had an 80.4 (instead of 80.5 as originally posted)
  11. Maybe it was the person pushing their gong when they were leaving the field breaking the ranks of the Cavies pit.
  12. Yeah, I felt the Bluecoats were real dirty at SA. They were cleaner at their practice the day before. That happens sometimes I guess. They'll fix it. I agree with your placments too. I thought PR would be way up there. I don't really like the 91's that were given to Cadets and Cavies though. I thought it should have been a little closer to the rest. Not only do coats and madison meet up tonight, but tomorrow night they meet again and with the addition of PR.
  13. I know I said the judges didi a great job in an earlier post, but I do have one complaint. Through all of the first half of the show I never saw any judge on the field other than the percusion judge. All the other ones just stayed by the sideline. Kinda dissapointing. You can only hear and see so much when you are standing on the 35 yard line on the sideline.
  14. Hmm, have Bluecoats ever not performed first when they've been there?
  15. We always seemed to get hot tomato soup and grilled cheese on the hottest days. I feel sorry for the corps that will be at the Baton Rouge show tomorrow. Not only do they get the extreame heat, but they get the humidity to go with it. I love the swamp tour.
  16. So will you be changing your signature to say that you are a Cadets fan this year?
  17. I don't feel so bad for liking it because it's weird now. Yeah, it is a raelly good show. I really didn't know what to expect going into it. Wasn't real big on the drumspeak part, but I also don't feel I was close enough to the 50 to really get a good feel of it. I liked Bluecoats '02's version of Dancer better. Some of that is being biased and yes I realise that. I don't know. Overall the show is very good.
  18. The judges did a great job at this show for sure. I might not have given the 91's but everything else is right on. I even agree with Bluecoats in 6th (that was hard to say). It definately wasn't their music that put them there. It was their visual. Kinda dirty. They'll clean it and it will be wonderful. I couldn't really hear anything from the amps from where I was sitting. Kinda depresing actually. I wanted to hear all of it so I could get a good read if I liked it or not. And Cadet's show, in my opinion, was a very good show. Once everything connected in my mind it was wonderful. Well done Cadets. And no offense to any other corps performing, but it was kinda obvious that Cavies were going to win. Their visual performance just blew everyone out of the water. Except water isn't allowed on a DCI field.
  19. I guess i'll make a prediciton. No idea for scores though. Cadets Cavies BD Bluecoats \ Madison > Dang close between these 3 Phantom / Crown Boston SCV BK Glassmen Crossmen Yeah, I say they pass Sprit Spirit Colts Madarins Capital Southwind Seatle Magic Troopers Esperanza Kiwanis Revo
  20. That is what is so wonderful about this season. There is no way to tell who will sit where. It's really nice not to have someone dominating on top. Who knows whats going to happen. I can't even begin to make predictions.
  21. I don't think it's really him wanting them to recognize his creation, but more of him being upset that he didn't even get a chance to explain about the show. That's the whole point of the staff meeting with the judges after the show. So they can explain the harder to understand concepts that they may have.
  22. As much as I would like to say Bluecoats, I don't believe so. I'm thinking BD in 3rd. But coats will give them a heck of a scare. they looked absolutely amazing today and they can't wait to take the field tomorrow.
  23. I was at the Bluecoats practice this afternoon and I realy got to look at the chant closly. While they were practicing it I felt that it was a little loud from the one voice. When everyone joins in it balanced out much better and fit very well with the drill that the brass was doing. Yes, I said that. The chant fit with the drill of a different section. In their run they did not have the amps on because there was a large storm moving in. Being safe and all that. When they got to the chant the part seemed so dead. Nothing realy made sense and it didn't fit together at all. It sounded like people were just talking on the field. So having seen with and without the chant, I say it not only adds tons to the show, but actually holds it together. But that's just my opinion.
