  1. There's a note on this sign about telling someone your best "man" joke, maybe it will make it into the show. Guess we'll find out what that means tonight.
  2. repeat.... im so freakin excited for this show
  3. this was already mentioned in the uniform thread but thought I'd add it here.
  4. Thanks for the heads up! I've just been going off of their posted schedule each day. This appears to be the first day they scheduled the full run.
  5. I thought the same thing about the arm bands being hypes, but then I noticed that everyone (perc, brass, and guard) was wearing them. Doesn't mean they're not but I'm hoping it's part of the uni in some way.
  6. Going to go out on a limb here, but I'm beginning to suspect that those green arm bands are part of the new uniform/costume. At first I thought they were just sweatbands, but now I see that everyone is using them and they appear to be only on the left arm. Hmmmm...
  7. Really excited to experience this show in less than 2 weeks! Starting to see some very interesting props in the background... one looks like it's the bottom of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket; complete with landing gear. As others have noted, the quality of these videos coming out of the Cavaliers is extraordinary! That sequence where we see the concert bass drum in the front ensemble, which cuts to a close up of the moon, then pans out to show the drum major was awesome.
  8. By attacking a separate group of people based on this persons assumed or known ideology, you're proving yourself to be of the same mindset as he. Check yourself.
  9. I disagree with you but respect your opinions. My question is... Do your thoughts of "keeping politics off the field" just refer to the Cavies of 2016 or does it also apply to such groups as the 1971 Garfield Cadets and their self described "No More War" show? Propaganda is a real thing that all of us have to interpret everyday. We see and hear what we want, but that doesn't mean the messager said anything more than just a few craftily arranged words. To hide the current events would be a disservice to the meaning of their show. And honestly, if they had ignored current events, it could be construed as too "PC".
  10. So.... I have access to all of the finals videos on the FanNetwork and I am not a Live+DVD or Live+BLU subscriber, just a regular subscriber. I know this won't last long, but just wanted to share that bit of news in case anyone else wanted to see if they can watch them too.
  11. Glad to see that the regular posters on here are still griping back and forth over nonsense. Makes me feel pretty good about paying the ticket price to take 4 drum corps newbies to finals so that they could witness an incredible top 12, and easily the most talented top 8 in over a decade. Troll all you want over the direction of DCI, but it's growing. Every single person I took to finals tonight was blown away. Two of them recently spent over $100 to see Pink! in concert and felt this was more emotionally entertaining. The fan favorite within my group was the Bluecoats, however, they all knew The Blue Devils were the best. One friend stated, "how do they do that? They are so good, it's like they are all clones." Oh, and when they showed the close-up of the Bluecoats DM on the jumbo-tron when they won 2nd, my friend's knees buckled.
  12. I feel like the Cavaliers have officially figured out who they are under this new design staff. I am more than impressed with what they are showcasing to the fans this summer. Akron in 6 days!
  13. Goodness. Here's hoping they utilize those french horn background riffs beginning at 10:18, old-school. Based upon the source music alone, I feel like this is going to be one of those shows where I don't even care where the Cavaliers end up placing. I just want to hear and see what they do with it. Good luck boys!
  14. Nah. I'm putting my money on November. You'll know what the show is when the dvd/blu-ray comes out and the theme is listed on the box. Now that would be "out of this world!"
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Carolina Crown's shakos hollow, as in, there was no top to the hat? I wonder what the members thought about them because in theory that sounds incredible. Especially during those 110 degree performances.
  16. I'm taking the "wait and see" attitude on the instrumentation change. However, after reading the great analysis on DCI adapting its "product" for a wider audience and varying venues (in the search of more $$$$), it makes me wonder, when do we stop thinking of the students as "performers" and start thinking of them as un-paid employees?
  17. W equals West > equals Point C equals Cadets West Point Cadets That's all I got.
  18. Dear Carolina Crown, At the end of the "Percussion/Counting Feature," when the brass breaks apart after the third repeat of the crazy runs, instead of having them just kneeling in what appears to be scatter drill, why not have the brass in numeric formations. The whole piece appears to be about numbers, and "writing numbers up on the chalk board", so just have the brass reflect that in the drill. The change would be fairly easy to integrate, and they wouldn't even have to be in numeric order (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4...) Before After (You know, but make it look better than my crappy MSPaint rendition)
  19. ... so to make your point about fans being rude and immature, you decided Carolina Crown's use of, "laying on their stomachs and wiggling their feet," was a relevant justification? I am personally on the fence with the booing. While I have never participated in it myself, I can easily see both sides of the argument. Yes we want all of the performers to have an incredible experience, but this is not an exhibition activity, it is a competition. And with competition comes extreme emotions. When the paying customer is upset with the competitive portion of the activity, sometimes a negative emotional response occurs (i.e. booing). However, in the 15 years I have followed DCI, DCA, and WGI, I have never seen an audience out-right "boo" an ensemble as they were performing (not to say my personal experience is the absolute truth). When there is a booing response, it only comes as the scores (determined and tabulated by subjective judges) are announced. This has been happening for years; just look at any DCI final from around 1995 - 2000 when the Madison Scouts' scores are read. It's not an ideal situation, but if DCI is really going to be "Marching Music's Major League," we have to expect this kind of reaction. Now, when there are fist fights in the stands and all out brawls on the field.... then we can begin to worry.
  20. According to the "36 things to know..." article on dci.org, it appears just the Akron scores will be classified until the Tour Premiere.
  21. First Look at the Front Ensemble First Look at the Brass
