  1. BD 93 is laser etched into my memory because the one time I saw them live that summer I was sitting on the 25 yard line or so and even when they were bunched on the 50 not playing directly at me I still thought (and continue to think) they were one of the loudest hornlines I've ever heard. It was unfrickinbelievable. And the music rocked! I second everything Hrothgar said. I'd love to hear them play cohesive music again. With the exception of 2000 and 2004 I haven't really enjoyed BD musically since '96 and prior.
  2. I agree with Galen. Lots of folks here seem to be upset that they lost a forum for discussion of politics. I didn't see much discussion in there.... It was a lot of one-upmanship and yeahbutt-ing with both sides, yes sides, firmly entrenched in their belief that they were right and the other side, yes side (could the lines have been drawn any more clear in there????), couldn't be more wrong. A majority of posts consisted of one side trolling the internet for a nugget of information that supported their belief system and then posting it as a method to bash those they don't agree with (be it members or political figures). It was such a drag that I stopped participating because I just didn't have any interest. Whenever I came back it was the same tired story so I left again. And that was completely my choice. Now it seems as if the community administrators feel the same way, but they have the option to not only leave but also to close it. And really that is the only option as they can't just abandon a section of their forum. They either manage it or get rid of it. I guess they're tired of managing it....
  3. Jason & Liz are right on. I was a very active participant during the 2004 election season... It was pretty heated back then but now it's just ugly. So, now I read occasionally and post rarely. My choice.
  4. The US population center continuously shifts west and south. Therefore it's no surprise that any activity that involves people would follow a similar trend.
  5. Does anyone else's Vol. 1 have a jacket that is too small for the case? Mine is about a 1/2 inch too short, resulting in the underbelly of the case being visible through the top and looking all-around half-###ed and cheaply produced. They've had this size case for several years now without issue.... I can't imagine why they would suddenly screw this up.
  6. Flock of Seagulls. Yeah, you heard it here first! :P
  7. Then I guess that means that The Cadets will be doing "%#$&!" No wait, that will just be the anti-Cadet crowd's reaction.
  8. Guess I'll be staying up late tonight. :)
  9. One thing I noticed is that the chants of "SCV! SCV!" as they left the field are barely audible (and maybe I'm only hearing it because I'm listening for it). It seemed like the whole stadium was doing it when I was there, but it must have just been the section I was in.
  10. If you're lucky they'll ship yours today... ground shipping will still have them to you by tomorrow. Can't wait to get home and check my email!
  11. I was just reading this thread and thinking the exact same thing. That is an excellent venue for a drum corps show!
  12. I went back and reread the email and the term used was "licensing limitations". Still, they could put out non-final versions of the audio but not of the video? I agree, these limitations are very perplexing.
  13. I emailed DCI upon returning from Madison asking if they were going to sell "instant DVDs" online like they have in years past and they told me that due to licensing issues they would not be doing that this year.
  14. Definitely Niagara Falls = #1. My Kind of Town is unquestionably last on my list. The rest.... pick any order, they're all good.
  15. I think Madison did Reve Rouge in '03? Also, the Cadets ballad this year sounded an awful lot like Cirque music... :sshh:
  16. I thought SCV had their best show of the week tonight. Unfortunately it wasn't enough. :( But congrats anyway on an outstanding season!!
  17. They were definitely not over-amped live and in person. It must have been a cinecast mic placement/mixing problem. Just FYI. B)
  18. Well, at least it's narrowed down to a city. :) Anyone happen to know what school?
  19. Yes. I sat about 6 rows from the top of the upper deck and had an excellent view of the Capitol building! :P Seriously though, it was too high up to experience any sort of real emotional connection with the corps. So, if they decide to go there, definitely avoid seats in the upper half of the upper deck.
  20. Hmmm..... If they have to ask you to yell..... I don't know about this. The Vanguard yell is a tradition born out of spontaneity. If it doesn't happen this year as loud as the last two years, is it really a big deal? I can understand wanting to hype up the members, but still I have mixed feelings about this.... However, I will conform and bow to this unilateral edict that has been forced upon me. :P VANGUARD!!
  21. Shouldn't execution scores vary from night to night? Or can a corps perform at a consistent level from show to show? If this were a design based caption then I would expect scores to be steady. But the opposite is true in this case. The judge placed Cadets about a point lower in that caption than previous judges. He certainly was not "falling in line". I admit, you do have a legitimate quesion in if and how the judges use the criteria to determine the score. I wish I had an answer. B)
