True innovation would be for the Cadets to march 1/3 of the corps right foot forward, 3.5% of them march left foot forward, and the remaining members march both feet forward.

I always felt bad for brass players doing Mahler. I remember playing Mahler 1 with my local symphony, and the principal horn player always yelled out "medic!" at the end.

I'm really digging the Phantom APD. Lots of room for improvement with that brass, and the percussion is sounding hot. As far as the music goes, I love it, especially from the gorgeous ballad through the end of the show . All of the stuff up to the ballad...it'll grow on me, I think. Also, I hope they have lots of visual stuff going on with the patented Mahler "ending that never wants to end." :) Does anybody whose seen it know what's going on with the visual at the end?

Where are all of the people who told me a few months ago that they were positive amps were scored in GE or music or whatever and that I was insane to think otherwise?

Yes indeedy, I'm ready to say that. Way to early for that. BD was up by 4 points on the Cadets and 3 on the Cavies at this point last year. Something happened when they were actually judged in the same competition instead of across the country from one another.

I'm sure that's the next proposal on Hopkins' list. :lolhit:

Yah, those mindless drones who choose to march with the Cadets are being treated so unfairly. Surely they didn't have any choice but to march with Hoppy, right, and they had no idea what they were getting into because they just flew in from Neptune. :P "Why should a brass, percussion or guard member pay good money to sweat and bust their butts all summer so blah blah blah?" Seriously, you should try askng them. I think you'll find that they chose to bust their butts with the Cadets because they actually, you know, wanted to and stuff. Makes sense! :)

To all of those corps the original poster says are trying to "follow" whatever the Cadets are doing, you're not doing a very good job. :P

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a jerk. I'm certainly not a big Cadets fan. I was just trying to say that we're all guilty of overlooking flaws and hyperbolizing strengths for particular corps. That's all. :)

Ostensibly yes, but amazing things can, and often do, happen in a couple of months. For instance check out the point spread of competitions on the exact same date last year (June 18th) between BD, the Cadets, and the Cavies last year in June vs. at Finals. BD went from having a + 4 point spread over the Cadets at a competition on the other side of the country to a -4 point spread by finals. Plus, even at the same competition early in the year, the Cavies were beating the Cadets by almost 3 points. Happens all the time.

Way too early. Throw current point spreads between corps at different competitions across the country from one another out the window. We won't get a good feel for potential placements until the top corps get together for regional competitions. :)

The Cadets are controversial, no matter how you look at it, g0at. They'll just have to deal with it, and obviously, they can handle the discussion in here. It's pretty civil most of the time. Ignore those who obviously just hate the Cadets for being the Cadets, but don't make the mistake of thinking that everybody who says negative things about the Cadets is like that.

Everybody has special feelings for particular corps that "blind" them to a certain extent. These are good questions for fans of all corps. Why they were targeted only on Cadets fans is beyond me. Anyway, I'm not part of the Cadets camp, but I can answer The Tsar's questions about last years Cadets show. I didn't like it at the beginning of the season, but it grew on me. Other shows that fall into this category include, but are not limited to: BD '02 SCV '03 PR '97 GMen '99 Star '93 (now probably my favorite show to watch) Shows grow on people. Pretty simple. And it's certainly not simply caused by blind love or whatever term you want to use to imply delusion.
