  1. Phantom '08 is the obvious one, of course, but here's another... SCV '05. I didn't get to see them early season, but from judging the numbers and what was floating around, things were rough. Maybe that's all it was--poor reception of their scores translating into poor word-of-mouth. Clearly at some point late season they pulled it together. I also think the VANGUARD yell that year may have been the loudest of all time... ...but maybe that's just me looking back with rosy-tinted glasses
  2. It's before my time, but I never understood why there were so many negative reactions like this. I get the whole disdain for being corporate-funded, but in hindsight, so much good came from Star and Bill Cook... I would like to think most of us from the late 90s-on, who grew up without Star, feel the same way.
  3. I think that's the Ralph. Check out the tower thingys in this pic: http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/football/nfl/specials/fansurvey/2008/images/stadium/bills.jpg It looks like that's what's behind the soloist there.
  4. So hyped we're going to get to hear Dropkick Murphys on the field... Get it Pio!!!
  5. Pretty sure that Glassmen shot is from 2001--they didn't use the mirror shields in '02.
  6. A very successful TSO weekend just went by, along with an even more recent Monte Carlo... Hope that one went just as well. I personally am itching to hear the show music. As for the current video campaign, has anybody seen this one? If I'm not mistaken, there may be a few DCP'ers featured here... Am I right?
  7. I'm pretty passionate about all of them, but honestly, the marching arts get my heart beating the most.
  8. I actually really liked 2004. The ballad had me in tears that summer. ...And 2008, for good measure. Anything Planets will win me over, let alone re-inventing it Bones-style!
  9. This. IMAGO is the reason I marched drum corps. Also this.
  10. Are you talking about Ice Cream World, right by Dorney Park? I go by it every year, but have never tried it.
  11. Don't forget about Yocco's! Not only are they my favorite hot dog in Pennsylvania, they've been hyping corps on their billboard for the last few years now. Great comfort food and great support for the activity.
  12. Regardless of whether this is true or not, how do you think posting this helps the organization? I never understand when folks go and post "Oh X corps is in so much trouble, what will happen?"
  13. I'll never forget the Normal show that year... As they were taking the field, the sunset was glinting off their mirrors. What an epic entrance!
  14. Hup Jubal hup! (I have lots of friends with those in orange)
  15. Considering the 97-04 shows, along with perhaps 09-10, I can totally see that.
  16. R.I.P. Dean. Thanks for teaching us and making us laugh so hard along the way.
  17. How awesome to have the corps facilities updated! Great news for the GLASSMEN and all that pass through those worn but well-loved halls!
  18. Madison 97 - The Pirates of Lake Mendota SCV 99 - Inventions for a New Millennium Glassmen 01 - IMAGO Phantom 03 - Harmonic Journey Bluecoats 10 - Metropolis
  19. That's awesome! I approve. This could almost be a blog unto itself... I look forward to seeing more people and their reactions to more drum corps!
  20. In 2009, the Glassmen had a nasty bus accident before the Normal show. At that show, upon returning to the buses from their performance, they were surprised to see the Colts arc-ed up and waiting for them. The Red Team showed a lot of class and solidarity by playing their corps song that night for the Gmen. It was even covered on the Fan Network--I think that makes this link kosher: http://bcove.me/458z5weu
