I agree- and I HATE Gershwin. They made a believer out of me.

Not the same thing...This ia specific rip off of a show concept. And I mean exactly. How many Dance Marathons- backwards are done?

I loved the Crossmen this year

They were enjoyable. I think it was just a design problem. The kids certainly performed... -
Saturday's Order of Appearance...

I may be wrong, but I belive that tradition of the champion performing last now applies to the semi finals, but the actual highest score performs last in finals. They changed it a few years ago. -
The unofficial SCV is getting HOSED thread!
Hops819 replied to Newseditor44's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Right on, Nikk. It's just not what is expected of the Vanguard. Maybe they ARE competing against themselves, but they truly deserve what they're getting this year. I would love to see this show done by the Vanguard we all know and love. -
I like Dance Derby of the Century!

Spartacus! Spartacus! Spartacus! -
All I know is Phantom blew me away in Allentown. Loved Cavies, have a healthy respect for the Cadets, but Phantom performed the heck out of that show.

Star 1993- Utter Crap or Musical Masterpiece?
Hops819 replied to Hrothgar15's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
In 1993 I can't say as I appreciated it. But viewing many times since - WOW! There was greatness there. Ahead of their time. -

Blast! (the show) Where to sit?
Hops819 replied to bartyount's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I can tell you from personal experience, the sound is just overwhelming. Sit close enough to see whats going on, but not too close that they BLAST (no pun intended) you out of your seat! -
What a great story!

Hershey Spectacular cancelled

Very sorry to hear this. Thnat always was a nice show... -
The most famous (or infamous) one I can think of is Muchachos '75 for marching overage members. I think there was something involving the Crossmen the following year as well with over age members. Geez, I dont think they disqualify anybody for ANYTHING anymore. Rarely see penalties either. Maybe because everything you used to get penalized for is legal now.

Cadet & Crossmen 2002 Field Debut

I was at Gettysburg as well, and I know what you're saying. Both shows made me smile. They are downright fun! It's so refreshing not having to figure out the message- the message is entertainment. :D -
Madison 1975 no contest, back in the days when the horns tried to blast you out of the stadium. There were no dynamics... just one- LOUD. I'm not even a big Madison fan, but this is a no brainer.

I guess I'm old school too, cause I not only remember those guards but I agree with you, Garyifny. One year I particalarly loved was the Blue Devils in 88 (or 89? -the gray year). They were just so elegant. In winter guard though, I must say there have been more incredible guards besides the Skylarks. They were fabulous and way ahead of their time. But, how about San Jose in their prime and even Logan as recently as last year to name a couple. There were several memorable WGI guards over the years, and not just the ones that won. St. Anthony's, Odyssey, Erte, Emerald Marquis and many others that were so innovative and changed the face of winterguard. Now I'm hard to impress- I've seen it all before, so if it blows me away- it must be something!
