  1. I saw the show at Giants stadium tonight and, no, the Cadets show is not as strong this year as it was last year. But, they do not deserve the low scores they've been getting this year. Maybe they don't have the best show of the year, but I don't think they should be sitting in 5th. Cadets won drums tonight, though. :P
  2. I'm going to go out on a limb here...the drummer for Meshuggah, Thomas Haake, is a sick sick dude. If you've never heard him, even if you don't like metal, you really should. The way Meshuggah uses polyrhythms is incredible. Ok, there's my plug for Swedish Metal. ^0^
  3. This is all really subjective, and a little narrow. For instance, there is no funk category. Some of the best drummers I've ever heard come from this genre. One in particular: Dave Garibaldi. If it weren't for him, people like Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, and even Carter Beauford probably wouldn't have some of their current drumming vocabulary. But, it's a fun site. By the way, did Maurice White really play the drums on EWF's All 'n All record? I thought he just sang.
  4. Sounds like they left some room for some drum breaks...awesome! I really like it, but wasn't the original slower? I think it could be cool if they took a couple of clicks off the met...but, I'm not on staff. Just my opinion.
  5. That means they'll probably suck this year... :lolhit: Mr. Dirp!
  6. Cadets '04 had plenty. My favorite was "SITTING ON A PARK BENCH!!!"
  7. I wasn't trying to say it was disrespectful...I actually thought it was kind of funny.
  8. No, the cadets/cavaliers is definately not gone. I was reminded of it everytime I saw a jolly rancher fly past my face during retreat. B)
  9. DCI is cleaner...hands down. All my reasons have been listed already.
  10. favorite showers: san antonio, alamodome...best shower I've ever taken
  11. I'm sorry, but I rarely see people crap on Phantom's hornline around here. I think they're quite favored on this forum...and they deserve it.
  12. When I was done competing with the Cadets, I never wanted to march competitively again...which included DCA. That's my reason for not marching DCA.
  13. Bravo! I sine yo' pitty on the runny kine. Sa da tay! ($1,000,000 goes to the first person that gets that quote)
  14. That's a very good point. SCV and Cavies have quite different styles. I'm interested to see what happens. I just think it's funny that people are saying things like, "Cavies are gonna be awesome now," as if they were terrible before...it's a little ridiculous if you ask me.
  15. Personally, I think this whole thread is a little ridiculous. Cavies have been a top 5 drumline for...let's see...over a decade?! (I'm not exactly sure about Cavies drum score history, but it's a good guess). Kuhn was nothing to laugh at. He was very good. Yeah, Casella will be great for the program...but, holy ****, is it that big of a deal?! Just a side note, SOMF69, about your signature (the "I wish I was drumming" idea)...I'm assuming you saw the Cadets show this year. If you didn't notice, they played more notes than ANYBODY! They deserved their trophy.
  16. If you've ever seen Slipknot's live show, and seen the marching snares, you'd know none of them marched corps. The technique is terrible. I'm not bashing the band or anything, just the marching snare technique.
  17. Ignorance is bliss...did you know they were tied with SCV in drums in Indy. Regardless of placement, that was still a smokin' drumline.
  18. Man, some people will complain about anything. A: "Hey, you want my cheeseburger...I'm not hungry." B: "Sure." C: "By the way, it has pickles on it." D: "What the ****!!! I HATE pickles!!! You b****** a** son of a b****!!!" -lights burger on fire, throws it on ground and urinates on it-
  19. Waking up on the floor of the bus...next to a Gatorade bottle full of urine.
  20. Yeah man, great enthusiasm! The only thing I'd warn you about is not getting too strung out. You mentioned 5 or 6 corps to audition for...they all have their own exercises and audition materials to learn. Plus, they're all in different locations (which was a concern of yours). Expense is only one drawback of trying out for a lot of corps, fatigue will eventually factor in as well. Try not to run yourself dry. You'll eventually make yourself sick...I did.
  21. I know a guy who marched Phantom Regiment Cadets (or whatever they were called back then)...well, they folded and all of the sudden he had a new snare drum.
  22. I just wanted to say congratulations to a great corps and a great show! Enough said...
