  1. I imagine the equipment for the skycam is pretty expensive. Maybe if they attached a camera to someone's horn or shako or something :)
  2. I agree with this. You never know what's going to happen. From about the start of the 2005 summer I had my heart set on marching a certain corps, and thought it was good until about April when things didn't work out as I wanted. I scrambled in May to find holes and ended up moving in with another corps and getting to march a spot there, and now I can't see myself wearing any other uniform because this corps was such a good fit for me! So I guess... audition for both if you can. See if you can send a video tape to your dream corps and ask for feedback on whether you have a reasonable chance of earning a spot, and start figuring out money. I don't know about this local corps you talk about, but I doubt that if they are reasonably good as you say and you end marching there, that you will have a miserable summer wishing you were at your "dream". The most memorable things in drum corps have nothing to do with what colors you're wearing.
  3. Does anyone like CF? I never encountered or heard of anyone that did this summer.
  4. Lol, so Boston would jump Crown too if Madison had cleaned their drill? :P
  5. So are you guys planning on performing every year, 'cause that'd be really cool. My seat partner this past season was a huge Bridgemen fan and he actually missed y'all's performance in Allentown!
  6. So I know there was a Bridgemen alumni corps at DCI Allentown and there was the Madison alumni corps at Semis. I thought both were pretty awesome, great to hear the old drum corps of the 70's and 80's live instead of on video. I think there's been a lot posted about Madison, so what about the Bridgmen this year? Also, were there any other alumni corps at other shows this season?
  7. Star '93. 2nd place in best 2nd place shows are PR 89 and BD 04.
  8. Advice: If you're posting on a message board asking for a ride from a volunteer or corps member, check with the corps director and other volunteers and members if the person is legit. I think everyone on these kinds of forums is real, but better safe than sorry!
  9. Does anyone know what the capacity was 'cause the homestand looked packed.
  10. Wasn't a fan of how the Scouts and the maroon and flower team looked.
  11. What I heard was Brandt actually didn't say "you may take the field" on Finals night for the Bluecoats. As a performer, I'd rather not do a running start 'cause I like the chance of taking the announcement and the crowd all in and pumping up to that.
  12. Does this mean best performing or most attractive? :P
  13. "How many of you are 18 and older? Well, there are people your age that decided to enlist and go off to war to defend your country. ... I don't know what that has to do with Circle Drill." "Are you supposed to be 2 off the yard line? You're about 4 inches outside of that. Compensating for something?" "Hitting the cover in this set should be so important to you that 20 years from now you'll wake up in the middle of the night and beat your wife screaming 'I MISSED THE COVER IN SET 130!!!!!!' .... guys, beating your wife is a terrible thing." "That has no emotion, because ROBOTS don't have any!" "You have as much emotion as that tree over there. Look at it: sure it's alive, but it has no EMOTION!" (to someone talking at set) "Behind that wall over there is a wise man. Run over there and ask him how to stop running. .... so what'd he say?" "He said use proper rehearsal technique so you don't have to run." "THAT'S NOT HOW A WISE MAN TALKS! Wise men talk like 'From within, proper rehearsal technique brings less running.' Run back and ask him again." "Out of a million sperm, you were the fastest, so how were you the last one back to your set?" "You have permission to run back to set............. now!" "You need to run back to your set like you're on the mf-ing Price is Right!"
  14. If they went to all black I'd see them as a contender :) Now THAT is something I'd like to hear!
  15. Cool stuff man. Phantom Regiment will play Elsa's at my wedding, I have already decided.
  16. If you're a horn line member, practice holding up your horn (I'd imagine especially at a corps like PR)! I know I was a wreck at my first camp and thought I was going to get cut right there.
  17. As a marching member this past season, I'd have to say the crowd was pretty flippin' awesome all three nights :)
  18. I have a few suggestions... PR: Nessun Dorma, Fire of Eternal Glory, Shostakovich 5 (no contest with the finale) Crown: Pines of Rome, Holst Second Suite, Medea (oh yes I went there)
  19. So I think he wants predictions for Finals... 12. Glassmen 11. Spirit 10. Crossmen 9. Boston Crusaders 8. Madison Scouts 7. Santa Clara Vanguard 6. Carolina Crown 5. Cadets 4. Bluecoats 3. Blue Devils 2. Cavaliers 1. Phantom This was hard, in my estimation everyone in the top 8 deservs to be top 5. I predict I will not get a single one of these right :)
  20. Sounds a little better than the first time we heard it, but I still feel confused when I hear it. The vocal and the brass sounds just don't blend right. I feel it may grow on people as the season progresses.
  21. Watching Boston '04 for Quarters at theatres was something. The cubes and the narrations weirded me out. Man, did I need some Madison after that one, FAST!
  22. Haven't had problems with any sovies people. My friend (a guy) did get hit on by someone working a booth (another guy), and since my friend doesn't swing that way, it was pretty awkward :P
