  1. Hey Brother, I'm in !!! I thought you were a Euph. player man !!! :P You know we are " The Few, The Proud, The Euph's !!! " Bill
  2. What I saw at the March Madison Scout camp. I saw a Board,Management, and Staff that is working together to give the Gentleman that are marching in the Madison Scouts in 2007 the very best experience possible. The Board is working their tails off to ensure that the Madison Scouts this year and every year after this one have the tools and resources to become the best Men they can be. Jeff Spanos, T.R. Fitzgivens, Mr. Howard, and Cory are on top of the day to day operations.( Sorry for mis-spelled names) Things are ran very smoothly and the guys are always in the know about whats going on. ( As a parent this makes me very happy !) The Staff is AWESOME ! So much knowledge there. I am amaized at the level of teaching going on. This years "Men of Madison" have already became Brothers. They all want to be a MADISON SCOUT ! I saw a full Drumline and a full Hornline. I saw them work together toward the goal of marching, singing, and playing through about 3 mins. of drill. They did it ! Marching and playing the memorized music , and it was awesome !!! I heard the pre-opener ,the opener, the ballad, the first part of the closer, 76 trombones, Ice Castles, an Never walk. All of which had me toe tappin, head knoddin', whitslin',cheerin', smilin'and cryin'. On a side note , the guys ate well to ! Rootbeer floats at midnight !!!!!!! The past is just that. You can't change it. You can make your future !
  3. First of all let's get the facts right. They practiced till 1:00, rode back to school, and lights out was 2:00 o'clock. I never herd a single man there whimper that it was past their bedtime. Truth be known these men would have stayed all night to reach their goal. "Unbound", You better be !
  4. I'm with you !!!!!!! Only one I would add is El Gotto Trista (sp) !!
  5. Music from"Matrix Reloaded" would be awesome. My son's marching band did it a couple of years ago.
  6. Oh no, I do not blame anyone for not getting their just due. My wife and I both are in the music biz. so I do understand. Only thing is when they are completely unreasonable about what their work is worth.
  7. I do not think I would want to hear Garth on the field either. I just mentioned him because he was one the the people that sat before congress and really pushed for more copyright laws.
  8. I agree with your statement. I enjoy new music. I just really feel that the royalties issue holds back some music from being used.
  9. Is the real reason corps, for the most part, do'nt play music that evrybody knows because the royalties they would have to pay ? (Thanks Garth Brooks ! <**> ) What do you think ?
  10. Not sure why this post came out on the bottom of the quote ??? See last 2 lines above
  11. Here's why the AFL works. Their league is built for the beer drinkin', radio listin', 3 kids and a Wife, livin' pay check to pay check commom Man. Which way back when DCI shows appealed to these people to. Not anymore, these type of people want toe tappin', Hey I know that tune, let's just have fun and not have to think about what we are watchin' or hearin', let's forget about our troubles, type of entertainment. These are the reasons that the AFL is growing. They are set up for the common man. I would say alot more but I would get slamed here even worse. Just my opion here, I to am a commom man that just so happens to like Classical music, cool jazz, and Drum corps. Very few of us around. :) :) :) Mr. Boo,"Who get's to decide what's entertaining ? ", The fans of coarse. Not DCI, the drum corps, not me or you. I mean which one sold more tickets, Amadeus or Ghostbusters ?
  12. Hands down, Finals 1980 in Birmingham, Al. "The Spirit of Atlanta". The whole show touched me and most everyone there deeply. I was cryin' like a baby ! Second was last year. I was very moved just watching the "Magic" drum line's marching. The last half of the show was unreal !!!! How they marched and played at the same time is still amazing to me.
  13. Depressing/angry to the end is how I think of "Dark" as well.
  14. I'm biassed to," Bass Trombone Player here". Anyhow maybe it's just the way I define "Dark" is where I am having trouble understanding. To me "Dark" means "Evil".
  15. So are "Dark" and "Beautiful" related ?
  16. This is just a question. It seems to me that there is one word that comes up in many threads here and it is "Dark". People seem to be very passionate when they use this word to describe shows. Can someone help me understand what about "Dark" is good ? This is truly a question. I am not trying to start trouble or complane. I am just one that enjoys "Uplifting".
  17. This is true. There was bad blood there. ^0^ ^0^ ^0^
  18. That would be 1980. I was there to ! It was 137 degrees on the field when we went on !!! Those wool coats we wore made it even worse. On a liter note, those 32 oz. ice cold beers that we had while watching the rest of the corps and waiting on scores sure hit the spot !
  19. What if the drinking age was still 18 ? Would drum corps be any differant today ?
  20. I brought this back up. I think it go's with the " Why don't crowds go nuts anymore " topic.
  21. I was just thinkin' about who is in the stands now-a-days ? I started going to drum corps shows in the mid-70's on up throught the mid 80's. I took a long break from 1984 till 2004. Wow , what a change Drum Corps shows !!!! I'm not saying one era is better than another, just really differant. Back in my day the average Joe off the street can to drum corps shows and most were entertained. Something there for everybody,jazz-BD,classical-PR,G-men,SCV, everyone had their own style. Corps seemed to really go for the crowd. Tickets to finals were 2/3/4 bucks a pop. The guy off the street could take the hole family for $20.00, and the whole family would have a great time ! At the local shows the crowds were made up of at least 50 % of these type of fans. Now-a-days I bet that number is more in the 2 or 3 % range. The rest of the crowd is made up of friend's , family , alums of corps at that show. ( Oh, I forgot the 200/300 high school band kids. Their band dir. brought them to learn something and their came to socialize. ) Have we not forgotten the ave. person off the street ? I think so !!! $20.00 gets you 1 crappy seat on the 10 yardline, along with all those high schoolers who are more worried about their cell phones or hormones. Meanwhile watching, for the most part, the same show over and over again. ( The ave. Joe can only take so much jazz dancin' and marimba playin') All I'm saying is that until we get these people back in the stands we will never grow.
  22. This senceless BS has got to stop ! <**> <**> <**> The past is just that ,THE PAST ! JMHO
  23. I was there with my Brother Geno and a 126 other Brothers. I remember how connected I felt to the crowd that night ! I can also remember Phantom coming to attention and storming off the field at retreat. I remember how loud the crowd was from the push in Ice Cas. to the of the show. The rush I got from that was better that a whole lot of ... I've had !!!!
