  1. I for one do not think the Blue Stars will make top eight this year. Can you imagine the general and anti-DCI posts if the same eight repeat for next year? Doesn't help sell TOC to the masses.
  2. No, Bad ASSS Crusaders takes that award. Yes, I know, it's not part of their current name!
  3. You and me both! They hit 70 their second show on 6/25th and they haven't hit 79 yet. Ouch!
  4. Even when "BAC" was created, there were several of us who did not live within Suffolk County. Grew up in the South Shore town that Ed Denon lived in. However one likes to refer to the nickname, for those who defended the corps, for those who felt the wrath of the corps, for those who personally kept the corps solvent, and for the majority of older alumni, it has only one meaning.
  5. Proudly marched with Boston in the mid 60's when the Bad Assss Crusaders gained the nickname. Any other version is someone putting a PC spin on it.
  6. No, the gentleman was not talking about other corps, but too me, it seemed like only one corps "kids" were tired. Since I feel just about everyone is probably tired, the post was not needed.
  7. And the other corps "kids" are not tired?
  8. Long after I entered the USAF in 66 with two years of eligibility lost, D&BC started including training in their programs. In 06, I began training as a Masters track sprinter, never having ran track at any level. I've learned that a strong core is critical and probably important to todays D&BC members. Here are some exercises that anyone should add to their workouts. On this first site, scroll down to the thumbnail pictures and click on "What is core training?" After that short video is over, after a 10 sec. or so pause, it goes into the next exercise. They get harder as it progresses. Believe the dead bug is at the end. http://www.ehow.com/video_2359458_dead-bug-core-exercise.html Again, on this next one, scroll down to "Glute Bridge" and begin with that video. http://www.coreperformance.com/knowledge/workouts/accelerate-faster.html This core performance site is great for nutrition and other healthy stuff. Finally, because of track, I no longer do a drill I used to do years ago for racquetball. It is a drill for anyone who does a lot of start and stops, whether in sports or D&BC. Can be done on a sidewalk if you wish. Set a course of 50 or 100 yards, but know where the 50 yd. mark is if it's 100 yds. long. One set consists of jogging 50yds, sprinting 50yds, jogging 50yds, and walking 50yds. Keep track of how many sets you do and over time, you'll be increasing your number of sets. Had my resting HR in the 50's after doing these for a month or so.
  9. Everyone's input are all good points. But, for me, are you competitive? Do you want to win at activites you currently take part in or do you give up/don't care? Just about everyone who marches in Drum & Bugle Corps has competed in something before drum corps. Many still do when they go back to school. Competing is part of their make-up. If it's not part of your pesonality, (wanting to succeed, afraid of losing, and at times you don't want to put in the effort) you may have problems with a world class corps. Better to really evaluate what you have to do, than begin the process and give up later on. A lot of time, money, practice, and self-confidence is required. I wish you well.
  10. I'll have a case of whatever you're drinking!
  11. Big Bird is doing great. Had a Patriot Guard Riders function this AM and all six cyl. were purring.
  12. Competed in three of them with BAC. 64(1st), 65 (2nd), and 66 (1st). Was a well run and attended contest.
  13. That BRASSO will really fuel the fires for discussions here. Wonder how DCI will de-bias the judges. At least the fans may be in for even more enjoyable shows.
  14. Didn't the word come down from DCI about their wish for more fan friendly music. Michael has preached it I guess at all the seminars/meetings.
  15. "This corps is made of Giants, we will never die, for we are Crusaders, true blue Crusaders, we are Crusaders, corps we love. Corpsss Weee Loveee."
  16. Let's say it ends up either of the main three many have guessed, for those who seriously compete to get the ring must be bummed out since it's only late June. I'm not into "we're just happy that we performed well" mantra. Sorry.
  17. Only thought at this time is there will be a different TOC lineup next year.
  18. Interesting how BAC was 1.1 better than Madison in music last night, but the Scouts were 1.7 better tonight. Guess a different judge can make that much of a swing in one day.
  19. Which means you're calling.........
  20. Believe BAC opened with a 75 last year. http://www.corpsreps.com/scores.cfm?view=scoreshow&showid=2010369
  21. On Field Pass it is stated they are using many of the "source material" of 1812. Les Miz will not be as prominent I guess as anticipated. http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=7a596826-541c-4107-999b-e522c4627893
  22. And you know dammnn well that BD will want to finish higher than they did in 88! Maybe the suggestion made last year will take place for the good of all drum corps fans. http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/index.php/topic/140478-dear-blue-devils/
  23. Will be interesting DG how others will respond to your reply.
