  1. The amazing thing is the costume (minus the head gear lol) could be used by any guard today. (in lycra, of course, not poly :P )
  2. I will add to this thread what I left out of the last one: Kicks! Fan, mid & high, front & sides. Make sure their carriage & posture stays upright & no bending at the waist. Arms should be outstretched to the sides (the "t") & remain parallel to the ground/floor. Proper prepping should be encouraged also. (Arms out, the kick leg behind the body with weight placed on the other leg, prep count 1-4, kick on 5, bouncing slightly. Transition smoothly to the other leg & repeat.)
  3. There was a video on YouTube of the Cavaliers guard warming up doing stretches & core exercises, but I can't find it now. Have them do this: during the whole day, every time they are standing or walking, they have to keep their stomach sucked in. No cheating! It will hurt like h*ll but it works wonders.
  4. I have tried several techniques before, with varying results. I have brought in modeling & acting coaches, dance instructors & tried various sociology exercises. What I have found best is when working individually, or in a small group of 3 or 4, I show them exactly how I want it performed...everything from equipment, posture, facial expression to foot positions & where they should be looking during a certain phrase. Then I make them do it, over & over & over & over until they do it just right, then a couple of more times to make sure they got it & begin to feel comfortable with it. If the members are not secure in their ability to perform the show in rehersal, it will be failure on the floor. Hope this helps!
  5. I would #### myself if I saw that! Someone call the corps hall NOW.... <edited for filter circumvention: ds>
  6. For me, the story of the year was "Mr. Moto." One of the most touching & heart-warming stories to come out of corps in a long time.
  7. If you find out another guard is doing the same music as you, make sure you bring it, or end up like so many guards the last couple of years, getting moaned & groaned at. Better yet, why not try to be original? Duh.
  8. Imogen Heap makes my ears bleed & brains run out of every possible orifice. I would rather see a guard perform "Fingernails on a Chalk Board" than anything by "Nausea" as I call her/it/them.
  9. :P Garfield Cadets Virtual Fantasy Drum & Bugle Corps "For Our Name Shall Always Be Holy." ^0^
  10. I'm not sure I understand. Is this for unregistered users of the message board or is this also for those of us already registered? I am garfield_cadets & only want to use garfield_cadets and be known by that. Having another username & password would only confuse things for me. Remember, for more people to participate, KEEP IT SIMPLE! :) EDIT: Ah, I get it now....a whole other site. But still keep it simple! Jeff with FDCI was so successful because there wasn't alot of fuss to register & submit captions. And remember, people are busy & don't have hours to sit & read every post on the boards.

  12. Hands down Tommy. The others don't even come close to that show.
  13. She knew something went wrong when she hear the loud "pop" and remembered the tic system no longer exists....
  14. Also, there is a rock? group named Symphony X, and that's kinda what I thought when I first read his post! http://www.symphonyx.com/ I've always wanted to hear a corps do their music. And looking at the face page of their website, it says "Phantom Regiment" to me!
  15. Hah...I kinda said the same thing in the other thread....:) Mods, can we get a merger?
  16. I wonder if his music catalogue or the musical was the main influence? Doesn't matter....you won't recognize any of the music after they chop it up anyway. :P
