I've been out of the DCI game for over a decade and today's DCI is unrecognizable. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me on that but it's just the way I feel. But don't get me wrong, I'm not the old guy that says no to innovation and progress because that's the way it's always been. If today's DCI participants are happy with the product then good for them. I want DCI to succeed and give people memories and experiences that I had when I was that age. Having said that, I'm not sure I'd have much interest in it if today's product was what I had offered to me at that age.

Good to see Dan Potter is still around the scene. He announced my high school band when we competed in BOA competitions. Still confused as to why he left WBAP for Tulsa but that's a whole different topic.

It's all been about show design. They were THE innovators in the 2000s but once they pointed to the open trail they began getting passed pretty quickly. Last 10 years of the program has broken my heart.

Drum corps is dead. You cannot change the current model without changing EVERYTHING THAT DEFINES DCI.

Cavies will drop out of the top 5 and will be carried by their percussion who will win their caption this year.

A previous poster put it best: high school marching bands are replacing drum corps. That's why I never marched with a corps because my high school was extremely dedicated to our fall shows that it didn't make sense for me to go with another corps. I already have fraternity, I already have brotherhood and bonding, and I already have fantastic music. It's a shame but for those of us in band intense areas, drum corps doesn't offer us anything that our high schools do not.

Oh please, get over it. Drum corps is becoming more athletic and people view it more as a sport. If they didn't view it as a sport then why do so many people care who wins a "championship" or "best hornline or drumline"?

I don't appreciate people trying to tell me what to do. I booed for a reason which was deleted by mods so get over it. However, I did not participate in the "blue devils suck" chant outside the stadium.

Maybe I'm just getting old but what the heck is a "pre-show" and why are people freaking out about having woodwinds in a pre-show? This doesn't have anything to do with the 11 and a half minute program, does it?

If you check out the cavaliers website, a #### storm is brewing between users as a man asked this: I must admit that it's very interesting and fair to ask and it's something I've wondered for awhile. I know that the Cavaliers originated as a Boy Scout troop and so they have roots as being all-male but in this modern day of legality, how do these guys avoid women crying sexual discrimination by a woman who wants to audition for the corps? Does it have something to do with being a non-profit organization? I'm not a lawyer so I don't know, might as well turn it over to you guys.
