  1. How about a line that plays match and traditional...tilt and no tilt? Mix it up during the show. What a way to show an array of technique and educational tools being used all within the same show!
  2. Download Burn own DVD Delete from computer done... ;)
  3. LOS is already rented out on Friday and Saturday for both the OC and WC events. There would be no savings by having the OC events at a different venue since the stadium is already being paid for on those days.
  4. I'm sure there are many musical and visual moments that several fans "wish" they could hear or see differently. What you see/hear is what the corps and staff and designers chose to present and in their opinions thought were the best way to represent what they wanted. The soloist did an outstanding job all season, as did the corps. Honestly, if people want to see/hear things differently, then get on staff with a corps or start you own. We should be a little more appreciative of what we do have considering the current state of the activity and how difficult it is to keep it going. Congrats to a great Bluecoats this year!
  5. I doubt the corps would be interested in losing performance opportunities.
  6. Serioulsly?! Where are you from? "Hard core inner city feel" is far from anything in downtown Indy.
  7. I dont know your specific situation, but in my experience, anyone who refers to color guard with the phrases, "never-ending pain...huge amounts of drama...$$ for almost no return on the performance side" typically have STAFF and instructional issues. Good, solid color guard programs do not have these issues. To each their own, though. You obviously have to do what you think is best for your program.
  8. In 2009 there were 162 Scholastic Units and 124 Independent Units that attended the WGI World Championships. In 2010 there were 150 Scholastic Units and 126 Independent Units. This does not include the numerous scholastic groups that only attended regionals. It seems that scholastic winter guard outweighs the independent organizations. Now, the number of members in scholastic vs. independent that go into drum corps is another question. A lot come from both.
  9. This may not apply directly to World Class, but when the minimum number of performers allowed was set at 30....there were some corps who didn't tour because they didnt have enough members. Look at Spirit of Newark this year.
  10. Nothing ironic about it. Most of them had probably seen the show at least once before and were getting excited about the moment and the moment they were expecting to see/hear. Of course, there are planned/designed "audience moments," but if someone likes what they see or hear they should respond. The fact that Crown was able to get people excited before the "moment" says a lot about the performance.
  11. Well, the good news is there are no programs in Vegas that are setting trends in the activity anyway.
  12. Not having the championships in the same place or same timeframe as World Class would not help the Open Class corps.
  13. I get that...but asking at anytime in history has this happened. There used to be numerous cadet corps.
  14. I have a ton of respect for the Colts organization, so I hope no one takes this question out of context... I know there is still some time left in the season and anything can happen, but based on placements and scores so far, it looks as if the Colts will miss finals this year while the Colt Cadets will make it into OC finals this year for the first time. Has there ever been this situation before? Two corps from the same organization where the cadet corps makes finals in their respective classification , but the bigger "brother" corps does not?
  15. I'm sure Legends would love to have her in the future. j/k ;) It is great to see the Colt Cadets continue to grow and improve as a corps.
  16. I think many, if not all of the Open Class corps ARE also rehearsing. I'm not sure I understand where you are coming from here.
  17. Why not go to Open Class Semi-finals instead of the BBQ? Everyone loves a good BBQ, but with the state of drum corps right now, it seems the OC corps need the support more now than ever before.
  18. The fact that this thread is getting little attention and response just fuels the G7 fire...just sayin. I'll be at OC Semi's and Finals
  19. It's interesting that when the G7 announcement came out, several people seemed to be upset about the future of drum corps and Open Class. Now that the season has started, we are back to the status quo with the focus on the "top" groups again. Anyway...very good to see Blue Saints still up and running. I wonder if the honor guard was present to give them the numbers they need to be a full DCI member OC corps. Looks like Legends had a decent start, but very incomplete right now. I'm sure they will be great by the time we get closer to the end of the season. I'm always a fan of the Colt Cadets (who isnt? lol), but expect many OC corps to pass them up as the season progresses.
  20. Unless Marcus High School from Texas is at the same show. Just check out BOA GN results from last year. ;)
  21. What does World Class or Open Class have anything to do with what a uniform looks like?
  22. I thought the, then Div2/3 corps directors decided to combine and call themselves Open Class. The Div 1 corps renamed themselves World Class after the Open Class title was engaged. Also, the Div 1/2/3 is nothing like the AAA/AA/A format. There are no current Open Class corps in the AAA/AA/A lists (other then the 3 connected to current World Class corps). If the Colt Cadets, BDB or SCVC where an independent corps/organization they would not be on the list at all.
  23. I find it interesting now that the G7 have brought up this proposal...now all of a sudden there is an outcry FOR the "lower" WC corps and the OC corps. Yet, history has proven exactly what 2000Cadet says here. I'm not saying that the fans do not support these other corps, but the attendance and amount of money spent towards these corps speaks volumes. I think this summer the Fans need to truly show they DO care about all corps beyond the G7 though their actions. We should pack the stands for all the corps performing at events...and not wait till the G7/upper tier corps perform. Boost attendance numbers at Prelims events as well as Open Class events during (and before) Championships week. Part of the reason this proposal was even put together was because of the actions of the fans. I'm not suggesting a boycott of the G7, rather a boost in support for everyone else so that when they do vote, they have proof that the support is there for them and ALL corps.
  24. From Wiki...or just ask any resident of the Indy area: Groundbreaking for the stadium took place on September 20, 2005. It was originally referred to as Indiana Stadium until Lucas Oil purchased the naming rights. The total cost of Lucas Oil Stadium was $720 million. The stadium is being financed with funds raised by the State of Indiana and the City of Indianapolis, with the Indianapolis Colts providing $100 million. Marion County has raised taxes for food and beverage sales, auto excise taxes, innkeeper's taxes and admission taxes for its share of the costs. Meanwhile, there has been an increase in food and beverage taxes in the eight surrounding doughnut counties (with the exception of Morgan County) and the sale of Colts license plates.
