  1. Here's something I never EVER understood. When I was in the scouts, the rule was... Smoking was allowed on the bus, but only when it was moving. Like what did the movement have to do with anything? Of course that was 20 yrs ago. Smoking on the bus is probably no longer permitted.
  2. Jeff, this is absolutely devistating. I'm so sorry. We will keep your entire family in our prayers. you WILL never walk alone! Joe
  3. In Sibelius 5, you can add instruments to your score by simply pressing the letter I. If you go to band instruments> unpitched percussion- you will see options for marching snare, marching tenors and marching bass drums. these use virtual drumline sounds and sound exactly like marching percussion instruments. (i'm using them right now!) Also, regarding the transposition issue, if you write in a non-transposed score, Sibelius 5 will do the transpositions automatically in the dynamic parts. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me.
  4. If that's the case, then I feel cheated. I am an IP endorsed artist, and although I do get an excellent discount, I have to pay for all my sticks and mallets. The same went for the IP endorsed corps I used to teach.
  5. They said the same thing when Hannum resigned. The Cadets will be just fine
  6. We're all proud of you guys! Congrats to the Green Gods mynwa
  7. I like em alot too, I just can't find what I consider to be a good pic. I already had that pic, I just hadn't zoomed in as close as you did. lol. My question was Is the Vanguard Star an actual star pin as in past seasons or is it an embroidered part of the uniform jacket itself? I asked mostly because of the contra question.
  8. anybody have a link to a pic of the new uni? I mean up close with detail and everything. I've seen it from a distance, but can't seem to find any up close pics.
  9. WOW- I wonder why the gades dropped six and a half points in a week's time. Seems odd.
  10. I didn't know Erik was back with the Cavaliers. If he is, then I don't even need to hear them. I'm sure they have the best written book in DCI.
  11. Not having seen anyone yet this year, I'm really glad to hear this about cavies pit. I was a huge fan of the Cavies pit when Erik was writing. Haven't really liked them the past two years. Now I can't wait to see em! Bluecoats usually have a pretty amazing pit too!
  12. Scott Stewart played baritone, so I gotta go with hornline
  13. 1982-1987 Few have changed the activity so much in such a small period of time
  14. tho it is truly one of my all-time favorite drum corps shows, I don't think it could compete as is. Musically? yes. Visually? yes in color guard, no in drill. Ahead of its time? OH YEAH
  15. Chris, I'm going to copy this post to all my drummers at New Providence High School. I'll let you know if anyone bites.
  16. I have to say, I'm SHOCKED Based on everything I'd heard to this point, I expected a much stronger first outing. Very disappointing. HOWEVER ... I refuse to lose faith. I have TREMENDOUS faith in the men of madison. They WILL entertain and get pretty dang good in the process.
  17. Sweet! how do I get me summa those?!? They should sell em at the souvie table. I'd love to replace the buttons on one of my blazers with Fleur buttons!
  18. Congrats Promtheus. I am proud of you. I know that probably doesn't matter to you, but it makes me feel good to know that you've decided this way. Work hard, bust your butt, work harder, bust your butt even more, then reap the rewards! Best of luck to you
  19. I'm suppose I'm not sad for him, specifically. I'm sad for the activity and I'm sad for the corps. Used to be that kids joined a corps and aged out with that corps. Now corps are used as stepping stones to other corps. That's sad. I know thats not the case here, but the loyalty factor is. I'd do anything and pay anything to be on the field with the Scouts again. I wish, for the sake of the activity, that others felt that way about THEIR corps of choice.
  20. I must be the biggest idiot here cuz I just don't see how people think the obvious choice is corps B. I don't get it. Guess my skull gets thicker with old age. The above statement makes me horribly sad for you. I marched in the Madison Scouts. I'd play triangle if I could put on the super suit again. If DCI suddenly changed the rules so that fat, 42 yr old men could march again, and the Scouts wanted me to play tuba (which I've never done b4) and pay full dues, I'd be on an airplane in the morning! Even if the Cadets offered me a timpani spot (my primary instrument) for free. Nothing against the Cadets, but I am a Madison Scout. Its not just my corps, its who I am. You'd walk away from your favorite corps because they wanted you to do something other than what you wanted? Thats just sad. I believe the good of the whole outweighs what I want personally. Sounds like it would make for a bad summer, but what I want personally is for my drum corps to rock. Anyway i can do that .... I'm gunna!
  21. is it just me, or does this sound like YODA is on the dcp forums
  22. I think you're misinterpreting the situation. Corps B has not made it clear they want him more than corps A does. Only that corps B is in a more stable financial position than corps A is. I'm sure that if corps A could afford to have him march and not charge him, they would. I don't think $$$ should be the deciding factor. I think they both want him, just one has more money than the other. I still say A was the first choice, A is where he should be. But that's just me
  23. I guess I"m just too old skool, but I can't figure out why anyone would say go with corps B. corps A is where you wanted to be. It was your first choice and they want you. Seems like an obvious choice, but nobody else agrees with me. Corps A is your corps.
