Bushwackers 2008 Front Ensemble Arranger
TchMuzk replied to alexnielsen's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Congratulations to both the Bushwackers AND Chris Rivera. Chris is an OUTSTANDING choice. I worked with him at the Hurricanes in 2000 and he came in once or twice over the past few years. He truly knows his stuff! I'm sure the Bush front ensemble will continue to flourish under his tutelage. I wish all the best to Chris and to the members of the Bushwackers! -
Cymbal Lines in DCA
TchMuzk replied to AlbionNY Drum Line's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
I think the primary reason for their disappearance in the DCI ranks is sheer numbers. When the limit was 128, it seemed to make more sense to some, to have the pit play the cymbal impacts and add 6 more horn players. As the max number increases, we're starting to see more DCI cymbal lines. Many DCA corps aren't close to the max number, thus we see more plate lines. I know I'm biased, but Bushwackers have consistently put out amazing cymbal sections! -
Who are the best drum writers?
TchMuzk replied to drumno5's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
No doubt Jeffe is good- ONE of the best. but the BEST of all time? I think not. i'd have to add Erik Johnson and Tom Rarick into that list. -
2007 DCA Finals Scores - Open Class
TchMuzk replied to Austin Stars's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Yeah, cuz I'm pretty sure the Cabs are the only open class corps from New Jersey. Ooops that's right, I forgot about the Bushwackers. -
DCA Rochester Prelims
TchMuzk replied to wishbonecav's topic in DCA All-Age Corps and Alumni Corps Show & Event Reviews
No doubt in my mind that the Scott Stewart influence in the Kilties organization will be a positive in dozens of ways. I look forward to seeing what our midwest bretheren bring to the table NEXT year! -

Bushwackers: New Rehearsal Facility
TchMuzk replied to DMCK's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
The view is simply amazing. Those who attend will have the special opportunity to hear the Bushwackers play the music of NYC while staring right at the skyline of Manhattan. It is a real treat and I'm thankful to be a part of it. Come check us out! -

I'm pretty sure crossmen didn't win a championship. and when rob was in the devils, they came in 2nd to SCV If you're talking about I&E, then thats not accurate either. Robbie DID win the crossmen, but came in 2nd when he was in BD

I heard the director of Music City Legend pulled his corps off the field and refused to perform until the field was "re-hashed" Being the all powerful, omniscient being that he his, DCA agreed to re-hash the field, but assessed a 2 pt penalty that will eventually be removed. I'm just kidding of course, but .... IT COULD HAPPEN!

Todd was with us at the beginning of the Madison Scouts Alumni Reunioni Project. he was going to play his original marching xylo part for the drum solo. The funny thing is that as much of a legend as he was (and deservingly so), he kept messing it up all the time! Anyway, some other commitment came up and he was unable to play with us, but it was an honor to meet him, watch him play and actually play with him. Even if it was only one or two camps.

Pioneer Clip on DCI.org
TchMuzk replied to 3rd_Star_Brigade's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
would u please explain to me how DCI would benefit by perpetuating the failure of any of its corps? I just don't see any motive for such a conspiracy theory -
You may want to contact the company that makes the long ranger, LECTROSONICS, about repairing yours. I'm sure its much cheaper than buyin a new one. Here's a link to their website. They were very helpful in repairing ours a few years ago. Lectrosonics web site- Long Ranger

OK, now i'm a stupid Easterner, but even I know Concord is like 7 or 8 hours away from the Rose Bowl. Saying the Devils have "home crowd" advantage makes as sense as saying The Bluecoats are "at home" in Madison. Having said that, here are MY rankings (which of course, are correct) 1. BD 2. Cavaliers 3. Cadets 4. Bluecoats 5. Crown 6. Phantom 7. Vanguard 8. Colts 9. Boston 10. Glassmen 11. Blue Knights 12. Spirit 13. The Academy 14. Blue Stars 15. Crossmen 16. Madison 17. PC Was it just me, or did anyone else find waaaay more corps ENTERTAINING this year?!?

I can't seem to find the official performance order for tommorrow's quarter-finals listed anywhere. Anyone have an official word?

Binghamton Field Perccusion Numbers
TchMuzk replied to AlbionNY Drum Line's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
just doesn't seem right. according to THOSE numbers, Empire beat the Bucs in field percussion due to the "averaging" While I haven't seen either ensemble this year, I don't know if that would have happened if there was a judge there last night. -
great to hear, fran. our thoughts and prayers are with you both!

State of the Scouts after SA
TchMuzk replied to silvertrombone's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
If the whole season was about making finals, then i'd be worried. Since it is not, I am not. Yes, this is the youngest Madison corps in very long time. but the pieces are in place for these young men to be great Madison Scouts. I spent the day with the corps when they were in Skyullkill Haven, PA. I got to chat with alot of the guys. They are very proud of who and what they are. I have alot of confidence in Jeff and Corey. They are leading this corps into the next era and I, for one, am very proud to be an alumnus. Sure I wish they'd make finals, but I don't see it happening this year. I expect they will make semis, but frankly I wouldn't care if they didn't. All I care about is those young men who are experiencing what it means to be a Madison Scout- something of which I am very proud. -
OMG, as a 16 yr old boy on the 1982 DCI tour we all used to go GA GA over Les Chatelaines de Laval. They were sooo intense and so hottt at the same time.

Kevin, your post is misleading. While the mayor cut the funding, the city council apparently restored it. I can't say i agree with the council though, especially since the city funds this as a way to provide NEWARK kids the opportunity to "stay off the streets" but they don't realize there are alot of kids in that corps who are NOT from the city of Newark. The city would be better off funding the school band programs rather than a drum corps made up of kids from other communities. IMHO
