Well I live in Houston and I can say that Rice university is one of the very very few good things this city has to offer. Having said that - I went to a DCI show at Rice stadium two years ago and it is really a dump. You could smell the mens room urinals from the stands. Just gross. Fortunately the Houston show has moved to a better facility.
A couple of months ago I was stuck in the incredibly ugly scene that is I45 in Houston, TX. There was an accident a mile or so up the road and it was bumper to bumper. I was listening to Madison -1999 quite loudly.
A young girl in a vw next to me yelled over and asked me what corps that was and I told her. She said something about wishing she could have a better listen to that so I tossed her the CD! I just went home and made myself another one.
Oh give us a break! Thousands of great brass players over the years have kept their "chops" up just fine when making the switch back and forth between G bugles and Bb brass. This point, as usual makes little to no sense at all.
I completely agree. After all - many kids were put off by the lets just say "unusual" shows they put out the last couple of years. Perhaps some who would have wanted to be Cadets no longer want to be. All the anti-Hoppy propaganda (not that I don't agree with some of that) probably doesn't help either.
