  1. I was in the lower levels, and there were times that I heard the synth buzz, but it wasn't bad. I'd have to agree with you on all points, especially with the Cadets. I really enjoyed their show, which is great to say because I was never a fan of their narration (And therefore I didn't really like a lot of their shows in the mid-late 00s). I didn't necessarily like the recorded music at the beginning, but there's a certain amount of give and take, I suppose. It wasn't playing when the judging started, so it was just for the "warm-up" time. And I definitely agree about the Blue Devils not fully utilizing their musical talents. The show was last night and I honestly cannot recall what they played, or even what the tone of the show was. It was just sound. In tune, and sounded great, but I just remember that there WAS music. I think they could do a lot more musically. As for SCV, One moment REALLY stuck out to me... right near the beginning, the corps turned around, and the trumpets came in, and it sounded SO GOOD. I was REALLY impressed. That's all that I have to add :)
  2. Not to mention the director of the Troopers winning the Director of the Year award
  3. I think you mean 2007... It would have been hard to beat the Troopers in 06... :)
  4. My reply to the OP: **** BEGIN PERSONAL OPINION **** I hope not. I remember watching 2002 Cavaliers and 2005 Cadets and being floored by how well-executed and how exciting they both were. I also recall seeing Blue Devils live in Denver this year. And being floored by how absolutely bored I was, and how unimpressed I was. As much as I dislike a winning show that makes me go "meh"... I would absolutely hate a "meh" show to break a record. **** END PERSONAL OPINION **** Anything's possible :-D
  5. ARRRAGRGGRHRGAGARHHGARHGRGAHRAHHGHG That is all.
  6. Yea. Like I said before. You keep saying this. What are you expecting as a response? Oh we're so sorry, the judges saw something that cause their score to go down a little bit. You know what the Colts are gonna do? They're gonna go back to their rehearsal, and they're gonna take their score with a grain of salt. Just like every other corps does. And they're gonna work their butts off. Just like every other corps does. And their score is GOING TO IMPROVE. End of discussion :)
  7. This is the only thing you've posted for you last like, ten posts. I mean, I'm a patient guy and all, but somebody bump the record player.
  8. You had that world. 3 years ago. And now look what we've done ;)
  9. I feel weird typing "cavies" because I feel there should be two V's. Otherwise, to me, I pronounce it "cay-veez" ..... Um .... I'm weird.
  10. I wholeheartedly agree, and I hope that it does happen. It's been 30 years since the Troopers made Dave Richards cry in his judges tape in 1979, and I think it's safe to say the entirety of the Long Blue Line is abuzz this year with the Troopers placements and show quality. Could it be the first time in 23 years that the Troopers perform Saturday night? They're good enough, they're hungry enough, and, darn it, people like 'em! Mmmmmmm :)
  11. I thought it was someone in the corps saying the "Hi" ... It makes it more funny to me. The hello echoes for a while, and then you hear the "Hi!" sresponse. And I was pretty sure it was someone in the corps. And I saw the guy say "No"... it's a redhead in the pit, near the center in the back.
  12. 13. Not true. Just because Wyoming is an underappreciated state does NOT give everyone an excuse to not know how many people live within its borders. And you obviously don't know, because it was actually ALL of Wyoming that showed up. (This post is meant to be a joke. Just fyi.)
  14. I'm fairly sure that what he/she said was sarcastic. I think it's safe to say that no DCI fan wants to see any corps fold, especially not one as awesome as the Scouts. On a more fun note, I was at Drums last night with my roommate who marched Cavies 06-08, and we are both HUGE 1995 scouts fans. That show is why we joined the activity. And when we heard the malaga bit in the Scouts' opener, we both looked at each other with the GEEKIEST expressions of joy EVER. Great show Madison, I enjoyed it.
  15. Speaking of the grammAr police, I would just like to point out that an acronym is an abbreviation that is pronounced as a word on its own. Examples of acronyms are radar, sonar, NASA, WAC, tip, posh, OPEC, etc. All of these posts are abbreviations, not acronyms. CARRY ON
  16. Well for starters--and I apologizing for being slightly less knowledgeable about forums than most, I don't really go on forums all that much except for my World of Warcraft forum--one person earlier in the thread said "4. The judges have to like your corps' performance skill and show design enough to take any heat from the staffs of corps above you about your advancement. (This one is subtle and hard to prove, but one can argue that this can hold an upwardly mobile corps back a spot or two, especially if you're talking about dislodging a perennial top three, top six, or finalist corps.) Example from critique: Famous staff member: "You think X's drumline was better than our drumline?? How many times has THAT happened in the last ten years??" Rookie judge: "Tonight I did." Big name staff member: ")(*&)(*&)(*!!!!!" It's hard, and the higher you go, the harder it is to defend, as a judge." That and the fact that, since Troopers have been placing lower than most corps, they usually go on first, or close to it. That makes it harder for them to push past others. That one is not necessarily as political as it is psychological, but whatever.
