Kingsmen, DCI's first champion......................what a great comeback from prelims -
Best Success Story of 2007
the hammer replied to PhantomCrown's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
You can't say that the Troopers return to D1 and Academy's rise in the ranking have not been great stories so far. Without a doubt and two weeks until Semis., having 4-6 corps going for 11th and 12th and the Saturday night show will make this year something to talk about for years! -
Go Casper!
-
Aussie, no question. SCV and Bones - 'nuff said. But props to Phantom and Coats for the helmet - a close second.

Places that need drum corps
the hammer replied to dccorpsfan's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Just for those trivia buffs..........both are M*A*S*H* references Ottumwa, Iowa was Radar's home and Quapaw, Oklahoma was the home of B.J. Honeycutt's father-in-law More useless knowledge -
Just as the poll indicates....................... Battle for 1st is down to four corps, really 3 Battle for 12th is among 5-7 corps, depending on the next two weeks It's still going to be a fierce battle at the top and bottom!

OK, I'll bite. Anyone else know who is famous coming from Quapaw, OK and Ottumwa, IA? Don't really know the rest, other than the cereal city. -
Most intimidating drumline ever?

Just my two cents................. BD 76, 86 Spirit 80 Bridgemen 80-82 Crossmen 90-92 SCV 78-79 -
Your Prediction for 12th at Finals

Sorry, BozzlyB, no slight intended, at least not too much. Realized I had forgot them. Colts slip in ahead of Glassmen for 13th, bump the Scouts to 16th. Now I'm really bummed. -

Since I didn't see the thread recently, here's my two cents as to what's going to happen. (no big surprise) Top 3 - BD, Cavies, Cadets 4-7 - Coats, SCV, Phantom, Crown 8-9 - BC, BK 10-12 - The Academy, Stars, Crossmen 13-15 - Glassmen, Spirit, Scouts Hopefully, Crossmen will peak! Have Faith! -
Santa Clara Vanguard's 7th Place Finish

I agree with DCI Monkey. 7th now, but I predict major cleaning ahead. SCV makes a run in the next two weeks to get to 5th, still a bit down from Bluecoats. -
11th, just missing the Academy for 10th.

Your Prediction for 12th at Finals

Hoping for those San Antonio Crossmen, but my bias should be noted, also. -
Crossmen closing in on top 12.
the hammer replied to dcifan2002's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
From everything I have read on DCP and having only seen them once, it sounds like most of their scoring difficulties are in execution. Everyone seems to be complimenting their show from a design standpoint, so all we can hope is that in the next 2+ weeks and alot of work from some very dedicated kids brings the desired result. Either way, it's going to be an exciting semi-finals, that's for sure. GO BONES! -

Fan Vote - Who is your favorite 2007 corps?
the hammer replied to heather anne's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
If it were my choice, Troopers or Blue Stars, just to give props to the great efforts to get them back to Division I. SCV is my favorite for 20 years, but wait, reality setting in.................. Cavaliers, by a nose, for the back to back! -
Nobody, but I also think BD will get there first. Cavies and Cadets close behind.

ESPN Style for DCIorg
the hammer replied to NeutralNovice's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Same concept as the telecast. Appeal to the masses. I was brought up on DCI in the late 70's with the 4 hour pledge-a-thon on PBS. Every corps live. It was awesome! Also a thing of the past. DCI/Tom Blair/ESPN realizes the only way to get DCI on ESPN 2 is to reach out to an audience that aren't DCI fanatics. That is how you get advertising $. Can't say I like it, but how would have thought you'd see DCI on ESPN in any fashion 10-15 years ago. We watch the telecast and the fans buy the DVD sets. -
Was not at the game, but it's always good to see the hometown corps doing a good job Way to go, Lancers!

Favorite 1970's Drum Corps
the hammer replied to KeithHall's topic in Historical Junior Corps Discussions
My top 3 1. SCV - dominant corps of the decade and easily my all-time favorite! 2. Madison 3. Bridgemen Honorable mention to the 27th Lancers -
As far as I am concerned, call it alumni, call it all age, whatever. Just finished watching the Bridgemen show from 2007 DCI East and seeing George Bonfiglio moved by their performance of Danny Boy let's you know that, whatever it is, IT WAS GREAT!
