Controversy in WGI and DCI
skevinp replied to Chris Cartwright's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
From Wikipedia:"Contrary to popular perception, especially in the western world, Kama sutra is not just an exclusive sex manual; it presents itself as a guide to a virtuous and gracious living that discusses the nature of love, family life and other aspects pertaining to pleasure oriented faculties of human life." -
Controversy in WGI and DCI

To be fair, I'm not sure 'graceful and refined sexual' body movement is in the realm of possibility for Miss Piggy. Any two of those things, maybe, but not all three at once. -

I have always thought of drum corps as a subset of marching band. Viewed thusly, the positions <a drum corps is a marching band> and <drum corps is distinct from marching band> are both true. People can define circuits for the purpose of competitions any way they want, but the term 'marching band' has a broader meaning in recognized conversation, and good luck not using it in trying to explain to a newcomer what drum corps is. Perhaps a good compromise would be Hard Corps Marching Band. -

So...I assume marching bands could not compete in a drum corps division because they had things not allowed in that division, like woodwinds. That leaves me curious to know what drum corps had that would disqualify them from competing in the marching band circuit? -

Good morning! I brought some bagels and donuts!
skevinp replied to alumniof's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I was surprised the first time I walked into a crumb and bagel store and they didn't have bagels. But then I found the crumpets to be really good. And the crumbs are still excellent and the lard just gets better and better! -
A solution to collisions with judges

If you find a drone has wandered away from the competition and is continually hovering just above your seat, you may have said some things on DCP... -

I'm thinking high saber tosses could be an issue. -
I hope this director does leave Lassiter and go to a school that will be appreciative of what she has to offer. I wish Lassiter luck in finding a replacement that every single parent and student approves of. This seems like it will be a difficult task now that there is an article telling every future candidate for the position what kind of treatment they should expect to receive. If they are unable to find a replacement that 100% of parents and students feel is sufficiently superior to all those other apparently less deserving publicly funded schools out there, my suggestion would be to take all that expertise they credit themselves as having and disperse themselves to share it with the many underprivileged students throughout the country who have never had an opportunity to a quality music education. They might even learn a few things themselves, such as what the word "need" (used in the article several times in an offensively inappropriate manner) really means.

Thanks for the warning. I will be sure to double my support to make up the difference.

Welcome back to Florida, DCI

The fact you said "when there's rain" rather than "if there's rain" speaks volumes. -
Consider this my 'green plus' since I no longer have a button for that.

Hey! What's this new look to DCP?!

Last I knew, the red minuses one could give were constrained to a very small number per day, which would render what you complain of impossible. Perhaps a lot more people disagreed with you than you realize. -

I was wearing a Madison Scouts shirt once and a lady asked me if I was a Scoutmaster. -
I always wondered if it was to engage the left brain at the outset, freeing up the right brain to focus on a more creative perspective. Actually I think all that left-right brain theory has recently been challenged, but it made for an interesting story in my own imagination...

Is there really nothing more to drums than what the individual caption measures? I thought they were part of the music captions as well. -
You have to be a Dino to remember details about that show.

He was perhaps miffed at the insensitive reminder that the "New World" in World Class doesn't include any Canadian corps.

I've never understood why, if something is a right, it needs to be reserved.
