  1. And balloon-swords? I can just picture a judge approaching the guard and getting squirted.
  2. Don't outrun her, take a wrong turn and see if you can divert her!
  3. In the Aurora area it's been roughly $3.85 for a week now. Filled up at Meijer last night for $3.73 using my Meijer card for a 10-cent/gallon discount.
  4. My top 10, in no particular order: 1) Phantom 1979 2) Guardsmen 1979 3) Blue Devils 1991 4) Phantom 1989 5) Phantom 1993 6) Suncoast 1988 7) Spirit 2003 (had to slip one in from this century.... ) 8) Madison 1997 9) SCV 1999 10) Cadets 1992
  5. Just be happy that people are defending the Cadets and Hoppy for once....
  6. I think Hi-Cam has been some sort of option since 2000. Early years DCI went back and issued a "make-up" set of DVD's for the 7-12 hi-cam, but I think starting in 2002 all Top 12 corps had at least the Hi-Cam option in addition to the standard "let's cut away for a 'hi-Mom' shot when something really good is happening on the field" format. The Legacy DVD's (1999 and earlier) are PBS-format only, which is basically whatever the producer/director wanted to show.
  7. Not in my case. I'm an opinionated SOB, but I'm fair and if someone is right I'll be the first to admit it. And in this case, I have nothing but praise for Hoppy and the Cadets.
  8. I have to think that there is pre-show interaction of some type, though, no? Members aren't taught not to break ranks? Members aren't taught not to fool with other corps' equipment? Members aren't taught to just respect other people in general? I know where you're coming from, but some of this has to be just plain everyday common sense, retreat or not. Or maybe it's not common anymore? It would explain a lot of what I see occurring in society in general......
  9. Very well put. I'll admit my bias in that I'm not always a fan of what the Cadets do, and this year is a show I was not happy with. But the nonsense represented in the picture is way over the line, no pun intended. People went ballistic when fans booed the Cadets. While I don't support the booing, in my opinion, this sort of disrespect from another corps member is way worse than any booing; I thought corps members knew better.
  10. Your opinion and you're entitled to it. Now as someone who was a big supporter of several DCI corps before job loss in 2003, 22 months out of work, and a new job paying 35% less than my old one did made me re-evaluate spending, I have a request for all this new blood: OPEN YOUR #### WALLETS. If you want us dinosaurs gone, you have to realize that the monetary support tends to go with it. Based on the number of letters stuffing my mailbox this season asking for extra money, it would appear that y'all aren't filling the gap that us old reptiles have left. Time to put up.... Thanks for reading.
  11. OT, I know, but Matt; as a long time Phan and supporter of the Regiment, I love the picture.
  12. And you would have had at least another 50 accusing you of a) hating the Cadets merely because of Hoppy, b ) forgetting it's about "the kids", c)just hating because they're the Cadets d) yadda, yadda, yadda. Long story short, whatever Pioneer does appears to be working for them. Isn't that enough?
  13. Don't know if this has been addressed somewhere, and quite frankly, I'm too lazy to look.... so I'll ask here: Is there going to be a play-by-play of prelims on here like there was last year? I've been asked to find out.
  14. Well, I tried.... And if it's any consolation, I don't think the Racine Applebee's staff is too fond of our little group after Saturday. But they were warned that were in a hurry.......
  15. True, but if the changes Chester mentioned improve the overall effect, that should improve the score, too. Also, I would imagine the MN corps spent part of Friday night traveling, and having their sleep interrupted. Sunday's jump could also be attributed to being better-rested, and thus, mentally and physically being able to perform better.
  16. The drumline is incredible this year. And I'm looking forward to getting back out on the field after getting what I hope is the final OK from the doctor this Thursday. I finally learned the last 20 sets of the closer yesterday at practice.
  17. (just practicing my look for the opener in the show...,. )
  18. And one added feature (and, yes, I know I've beaten this dead horse into a fine slurry....), the "gab-fest" from the '82 PBS broadcast did not survive. so you actually get to hear the shows without the witty commentary from the broadcast hosts. If you've seen the original broadcast, you know what I mean.....
