  1. It's a little ironic. Performing a show called "Constantly Risking Absurdity" the Blue Devils aren't winning a poll for most demanding show. It's not really that close either.
  2. I don't think they can do it, honestly. Cavaliers are top 3 for sure. Phantom is great as is BD. They're all contenders. Cadets are also beating Crown right now by a decent amount. SCV isn't to far from BD too. And Bluecoats beat Crown recently. So a lot of things would have to go their way. Too many.
  3. Well of course there's a reason for it! And you're exactly right, entertaining and accessible. Now, seriously, consider if Blue Knights did this show (forget performance quality for now, just design). Would you honestly think twice about it? I wouldn't. And I promise you people on DCP would talk about all the problems it has simply because of the history of Blue Knights in the past few years. THAT is what annoys me. It's chauvinism (websters defines as-undue partiality or attachment to a group or place to which one belongs or has belonged/excessive or blind patriotism) No matter what they do some people are going to praise them just because of what they Have done in the past. Of course this doesn't apply to a lot of the people here and of course you are allowed to be a fan but those few people... it annoys me is all.
  4. Just so you know... I'm not even a Cavalier's fan. I made that account a really long time ago and never used it till last week. Since I have the same e-mail I couldn't change it (or just haven't tried) but, yeah I'm not a Cavaliers fan. And I have nothing against Crown. Their shows are great and very entertaining and they derserve a lot of this positive attention, but as someone else said, "people worship the group they walk on" And it's funny, people on here don't worship anyone nearly as much as Crown.
  5. are you kidding? worst year ever!!! that's just stupid!!!! On the field pass it was stated (by someone, not potter, who knows A WHOLE LOT more about drum corps than you). that this is the "most exciting year in a very long time" I agree. The talent is way up. The shows are I think better than last year. I can't believe someone would say this!! I think just the opposite is true. Wierd
  6. If blue knights did this show, people probably wouldn't think twice (think about it, seriously) Someone once told me... "You can't do research to prove what you already know" (i.e. if you "know" you're right, no experience is going to change your mind) I think that's what's going on with Crown and Cadets on DCP lately. Everyone "knew" that Crown has an amazing horn line/guard and the best show of the year before even the first show. So after the first show, well no one can be shocked that the opinions remained the same. To be perfectly honest, I don't think it matters what Crown's show is anymore. People, on DCP at least, are going to love it, no matter what it is (assuming... no narration). Crown has been the underdog, has put out a couple of good shows and from then on they've been the crowd favorite and nothing is going to change that. Honestly, Cavaliers are miles ahead of Crown yet there are 10 times as many critizicms of Cavaliers than of Crown. It's the DCP bias I guess. And don't get me wrong, Crown deserves a lot of this attention, but (some) people treat them as if they can't do anything wrong
  7. hey man. I was kidding. Hince the EXTREEM exageration. You think that I really believe Crown should win by 50. I'm just pointing out... the steriotypes on DCP.
  8. so in summary... Crown-the best corps in the history of EVER! The hornline will recieve perfect scores, as will the guard. They totally should win by like 50. Cadets-ugh... this sucks. I hate this. Narration is the worst thing that ever happened. George Hopkins is the anti-chirst. And... I didn't even have to read any of this forum.
  9. probably real. I doubt he'd post a prediction without saying so. Edit-And then he went and edited his post...
  10. well you can hear the drums on the field pass. Honestly I don't think they sound bad. I like the pearls more but... it's not bad. Check it out.
  11. I've thought of this before. On one of the Cavalier's "On the Road" things from last year, one of the guys talks about the first show as being "terrible" Then it hit me... some corps never even reach the score they put out on the first night. Wow...
  12. That pic of Spirit is from last year. They got new drums this year.
  13. yes for Cavaliers 7 snares and SCV 6 tenors Honestly, 1 snare is not going to make a difference sound wise. Most lines alternate between 8 and 9 and no one notices any difference there. 7 isn't really much different. It's just... unusual. All of those players are top notch. They'll put out plenty of sound and may contend for the trophy.
  14. Ahh... now that could be the problem. Their book is honestly in general not as difficult as most other top drumlines'. Watch the cavaliers video from this year on *that* site. It's probably more impressive (which is why Cavaliers beat coats in drums last night).
  15. There's a video up on *that* website of cavaliers drumline from June 20th WOW!!!!! They could win.
  16. so that puts Cavaliers firmly ahead of Cadets as well. and probably phantom over cadets too. so who was it that said Cavaliers would destroy this year... hmm.... I tell you again, the highest number of vets EVER for them and a show that's been worked on for years and years.
  17. Never! This is DCP. It's where i bottle up all of the anger from the day and take it out on everyone else.
  18. if they wanted an 8th snare, they'd already have one
  19. West Coast inflation? Why, it's East Coast deflation of course!
  20. just a note to some earlier comments Early season drum scores don't really mean anything... Last year the first show was 1.Cavaliers 15.5 2. Bluecoats-14.9 3.Cadets-14.4 One might take from this Cavaliers are going to do great and Cadets will struggle but, well Cavaliers got 6th and Cadets got 4th (bluecoats got 2nd) when it was all over. After a few weeks it all started getting sorted out.
  21. I'd be willing to be a TON of money that Phantom will win tonight. Just watch... Oh and by the Way... Cavaliers aren't there tonight.
  22. You would have said the same thing to me last year if I had them out of finals! I checked the predicition threads and man were people getting ###### when others predicted Madison out of the top 10. Though, honestly, I haven't seen them so I could very well be wrong. But based on what others (even in this thread) have seen and heard, I don't think they'll do very well. Again, I'd love for them to do well!! Really, but I don't think they will.
  23. Maybe you didn't know this... The cavaliers this year have the highest number of returning members I think in their history (more than in 2002 and 2006). If not it's close. They were real young in 2007 and still pulled off third so this year with a ton of vets (I'm sure, more than any corps, probably by far) they should win it all. Not to mention, Samurai is a show they've been planning for years. Just like Machine. Fiedler left this year because he knows they're already in a great position (that's what he said). The percussion section, the weakest in the past two years, got some a few big names added to the staff and has 92% of the upper battery returning. People say, and of course people say a lot but I believe it, that they are really bringing it this year. So maybe still a weakness but not as much for sure. There was some really positive stuff said about them on the field pass as well. It was sort of suggested that they have a great chance of winning. With all that, they won't get third. In fact, they won't get second. At least tonight. 1. Cavaliers-75.3 2. Phantom-73.1 3. Crown-72.7 4.Colts 5.BS 6.Madison (overhype again, as much as I'd like to see them do good) Drum Scores (sure... why not) 1. Cavaliers-15.2 2. Phantom-15 3. Crown- 14.6
