  1. We in the Govenaires were looking forward to meeting you cats at DCA this season. I guess that's out of the question now. Of course, it's a shame to see any corps go inactive at this time in drum corps history, but another DCA corps from the west would have really rocked. Be sure you all stay in touch with one another and when the time is right somehow get back on the field. Remember drum corps needs you!
  2. Sorry, I was just just flexing my math muscles (I'm not teaching this summer and needed the work out). I actually understand that this is just a game and really doesn't have to have much significance in any sense of the word, so don't worry about the distribution or the central limit theorem and have fun! BC and Eric - It's good to see someone shares my dimented sense of humor on DCP. BC - Good luck to your corps and see you at the big shoe in Rochacha!
  3. That sux so bad!!!!!! Sorry, I didn't know. Come to Minnesota, DCA drum corps is thriving out here!
  4. Matt, thanks for the congrats on your signature. I just read it. You are totally a class act. Cainan, statistically speaking your sample space needs to have at least 30 respondees to be statistically significant (central limit theorem, baby).
  5. Smores are something everyone can agree on. Let's talk about smores.
  6. One performance at a time, guys. Fourth of July is next!
  7. Scores shmores (at our level anything can happen and usually does). Did you have fun?
  8. Scores shmores! I saw your (MBI) show last night. Love what you guys are doing. See you in Ohio.
  9. I do it so people on DCP can argue. ...not really, it's all because of the people in drum corps rock.
  10. I don't know if Minnesota's cooler than Texas (it probably is), but this past two weeks has been hovering in the 90s, so don't bring your parkas.
  11. Congrats! I hope Amber behaved herself down there.
  12. It's as if your future is now! See you all in our future...
  13. Govies: St Peter, MN and wherever the bus takes us for the second parade ...then the pool party!
  14. How did you know that was my favorite song? Looking forward to hearing you play in Rochester, JP.
  15. Note avatar: Sunglasses are part of the uni here. We always give rookies carp when they forget their sunglasses. If it's too dark for sunglasses we wear them on the top of our hatless heads. It enhances our playful persona and also makes those peripheral checks on the field indetectable.
  16. Govies 80th anniversary show: Julius (by Phish) Love for Sale Harlem Nocturne Sing Sang Sung (by Gordon Goodwyn)
  17. I cannot believe how this rant has turned into an argument over whether DCA is killing drum corps. Drum corps does not live or die with DCA. If you do not qualify for DCA, there's plenty of other things your drum corps can do and need not to fold over it. If your drum corps is based solely on competing at DCA, your drum corps will not live long. If your drum corps exists for the members and the fans, your drum corps will thrive. DCA is a venue for corps to perform, not a reason to be a drum corps. If a drum corps can't perform at DCA, perform in other places. Personally, I have never seen the Heatwave (we're always performing at nearly the same time), but their loss will be felt by all of the drum corps community. I hope every member finds a way to stay in the activity and I want to invite any of them up to Minnesota to get their drum corps fix up here. Now fight nice, DCPers.
  18. We don't "fill" our sections. We take whoever commits to the summer program and declare that our full drum corps.
  19. Govenaires do the famous "death march" down Minnesota Avenue a 10am to kick off the St. Peter Memorial Day Service where we play "Amazing Grace" and "Silver Taps". The day continues at a different tone with our annual beerball game (wiffle ball with a beer twist) at the Land of Memories park in Mankato.
  20. Pat, most of the pictures are in front of Patrick's because the parade is only three blocks long and goes in front of Patrick's. Therefore one-third of the parade is in front of Patrick's. OK, in reality, I could've shot from the other side of the street, but I wanted to give my friends' business some free publicity. You got me there. Stop at Patrick's Drum Corps Bar and Grill
