  1. They'll have to give out a penalty...way overtime and way too much water!
  2. is the field getting completely water logged or is the glass fogged up?
  3. i think it sounds fine.. the picture is really starting to make me think i've had a stroke. seriously. i realize the weather is ######, but how hard is it to focus the dang camera with the stadium lights on.
  4. probably. i'm sure DCI wouldn't mind taking your money at anytime during the webcast.
  5. what's going on with the brightness/lighting? are there clouds moving through or did i just have a stroke? i don't think the sound is that bad!
  6. No.. if anything, I'd bet their scores both go down From tonight to Saturday night. I can only see one corps breaking a 90 right now and IF the judges give the big nine-oh out, I'm also betting the next two weeks will be pretty dang stagnant.
  7. I wish that I could console you, but I honestly didn't get any concept (or a whole lot of anything for that matter) while watching the show. Other than playing a little bit of "Wanted"... I agree the show appears to have been constructed to the judges, but I guess that's not working out so well. The corps has a long way to go. Fortunately for them there is still some time, but I honestly can't see how the corps will make finals at this pace.
  8. So every corps that performs something NOT in 4/4 should get some sort of handicap? Adams and minimalism has been done before and it will be done again. Maybe there will be some reward when the achievement is there. Maybe the show isn't as well performed or constructed as the other groups around. Who knows... but just because I love corps Z, doesn't mean I think they should get a higher score than they deserve right now.
  9. A lot of corps develop names for their "landmark" sets over each summer, too - makes it easier to remember the places where they commonly start in rehearsal. "Set it up at the hambone..."
  10. Huh...Vis. Performance 1st, Vis. Ensemble 4th, Overall Vis. 4th...
  11. Didn't catch Colts. Like Glassmen, but they have lots of work to do.
  12. i love announcers that yell despite the fact that they have a microphone in front of them.
  13. what is with the massive amount of holes this summer?
  14. I'm going to go ahead a step on a few toes here - that's what I do best, afterall... I watched BK rehearse the day after the Ogden show, and holy poo, was I disappointed. All day long I kept saying to myself "I really hope this corps doesn't take this the wrong way and rest on their laurels..." and I felt totally awful for saying it because I KNOW that the Blue Knights are not like that, but watching their rehearsal told a totally different story. I'd heard that the guard had a bad night at the show, so they worked their butts off all day long on their practice field and logged a whole lot of laps. Kudos to them. That guard is phenomenal and will continue to improve all season long. I know that the recording at Weber State is a hype for the corps, but wow, what a waste of time on such an opportunistic day. Instead of addressing ensemble/music issues (with which they were behind Vanguard) I watched the horn line and drum line stand around, even sit for close to 4 hours. In sub-sectionals, the horn line barely played or addressed any sound/intonation issues - again, both of which were far behind Vanguard at the show on Wednesday night. I said earlier that at Vanguard's rehearsal the day of the show I was rather underwhelmed, but it wasn't with their work ethic or their abilities, it was with their "ownership" of the show. I've always thought of Vanguard as this seriously BA entity that had this big, awesome chip on its' shoulder about everything that it did. I didn't get that on Wednesday, but the opportunity for it to grow is there. I wasn't there for rehearsal, but I would bet money on the fact that all sections of the SCV worked their ##### off Thursday and Friday on all aspects of their show - especially GE and visual - and probably did a run-through (or two), and that's more than BK can say right now. I don't know who will beat who tonight, but I'm betting the results of the last two days of rehearsal will be more long term than a few tenths of a point. I'm really not trying to take anything away from BK - this is the best they've been in a long time, maybe even ever. I just think that the better this corps does, the more the immaturity of the corps will become apparent as the season wears on.
  15. I always enjoyed being on turf, no matter the temperature. That generally meant there was a nice press box so we got a lot done. The hottest that was ever measured when I was on tour was actually on grass at 10AM in PHX. 116 degrees at field level, 108 degrees at bell/head level. We went inside and slept after that
  16. technically, it was a 2 honk, honk. or a 4 honk. excited for this show!!
  17. Yes, SCV has their closer on the field. They're clearly lacking in the GE department for about 75% of their show. I watched them rehearse a few days ago and was left slightly underwhelmed. They're not the same SCV - there's no real feeling of unity or ownership of this show. BK deserved the .3 they got. They're good and they know it.
