  1. Hopefully this time around their tenors won't sound like wood blocks, basses sounding like cardboard boxes, and snares sounding like a stick striking a piece of paper. Yeeeesh! So far it's Pearl and Yamaha still in the lead with the new Tama snares in a nice second (imo).
  2. Don't forget about the Emerson, Lake, and Palmer version!
  3. Most "welcome back to being the corps some of us really missed you being": The Cadets! That show was fresh, it was basic, it was entertaining, it was engaging, it was fun, it was thrilling; all the things the Cadets used to be brought back to a new age!
  4. Retro Spirit, today! Absolutely awesome! Now, crank out some "Brothers of Bop!"
  5. Shell away. I did enough sidestepping (crab stepping, if you will) while I was in the ranks, back in the day. Never claimed to be a fun-loving guy. Cheers!
  6. The Freelancers are a corps that I really, really miss! Out of all the California corps, the Freelancers were always my favorite.
  7. Oh, honestly folks. Cool your jets. If someone made humor like that about a top Division I corps; I don't think there would be this much chatter.
  8. Pioneer is the sleeper. Or should I say, is a sleeper.
  9. Maybe Surf's drumline can be in a modern Twix ad!
  10. I still love the Twix commercial with the Bridgemen drumline! Ahhhh, the sweet memories from my childhood.
  11. Yeah, I'll have to agree with the group on this one. If it's for a one off gig, that's super cool and worth the viewing; but if it's year after year after year, then put together a DCA corps. Who was the giant alumni corps that got together for some of the DCM shows back in the early 2000s? They got to be rather stale after their "reunion" year, too. With the size of some of these alumni corps, I'm sure they could put together respectable groups for DCA.
  12. Half the corps could be Jehovah's Witnesses and the other half could be Mormons. The drum major could be a raging, pulpit pounding, Baptist preacher! Ha!
  13. If they are going to take the field and be Jersey Surf playing Bridgemen hits, that could be an awesome and very memorable show; but, if they bring out the yellow, the antics, characters, etc., it will be more of a copycat show than a tribute program. As I stated, that In The Stone clip was great; just be Jersey Surf with it. The memories of the great banana power from Bayonne will come with the music.
  14. In the Stone! Great choice! Could be fun a show!
  15. A few favorites that always used to get the crowds on their feet: "Bells" Freelancers "Conquest" Boston Crusaders "Soulero" Blue Stars
  16. The Cavaliers will be the last to leave. At the stroke of midnight, they will kick off the holiday shopping season by playing their '91 show.
  17. Mark Thurston + Crossmen = sweet beats and awesome drumlines!
  18. '86 set the path and '87 punched the ticket! '87 is still my favorite Bluecoats show.
  19. 1987! That show was great; best version of "Autumn Leaves!" Props to the '86 'Coats for "Salt Peanuts."
  20. Pearl and Yamaha still have the market cornered. I'd probably give Tama a good third based on their snares, alone. The Mapex line has potential; but needs some work, so I'd rank them a solid fourth. Dynasty, Ludwig, and Premier can all go the way of Slingerland, Stingray, and Remo.
