  1. Are you sure it's the mics and not the staging/playing volume of the pit?
  2. Might I remind you all that without Louisiana, you would have no Cajun food.
  3. for percussion equipment in general, make sure everything that contains it is padded. Make sure no drums are sitting on top of delicate parts (snare strainers, etc). I think timpani are supposed to be stored with half tension on the pedal. Keyboard instruments should always be covered if not in use, and they are NOT tables.
  4. Yeah, that's backstage. I've been back there a few times. looks like Magic Kingdom
  5. I keep my spare heads in a rubbermaid tub (for snare and tenor). The school I teach at doesn't go through nearly as many bass heads as snare/tenor (usually the only time they get changed is when i get tired of seeing them all scuffed up from a couple of months' wear), so I keep those tucked away in a storage room. I also go for the in-box, verticle storage
  6. Gary Cook's "Teaching Percussion" Has a good marching percussion section.
  7. seeing as i see on average 10 percussionists and only 1 glock, that could be a problem And G-horns, yes I can. That was my 6th grade band class...
  8. Found this on Steve Weiss. If you have any new students, this is a fairly good deal for them, I think
  9. This. PM if if you dislike having more viruses on your computer than Pam Anderson
  10. Sup, dawg. I heard you like to look at trees while climbing trees, so we put some trees on yo trees
  11. New thing that bugs me: The Mandarins arrangement of Cajun Folk Songs
  12. There are definite advantages and disadvantages to certain models of sticks. The Vic Firth Thom Hannums, for example, have a smaller bead than the classic Ralph Hardimans, and the very tip of the bead is flattened out more, This makes it a great practice/educational stick because if the sticks are held in the wrong position, it changes the sound drastically.
  13. With all these shows/season people would be marching, there would be some bad###es of musicians on the Enterprise
  14. a fan or something that spins might have gotten out of alignment
  15. Elsa's is actually quite inappropriate. IIRC, Elsa was a whore, and the hub-ub was over her being allowed to marry in the church
  16. Why can't I get a marchinghead of BlooContraGuy? Not in a creepy way. I just see that picture and go "####, that's what contra players should look like all the time"
  17. My high school had the drum majors, section leaders, and seniors on the field to accept awards.
  18. Yeah, the "fanciest" salute I've seen in DCI is the classic punch-and-snap that everyone does.
  19. While DCP is a good start, I recommend you also try the Percussive Arts Society member forums at www.pas.org. Also, where are these articles to be submitted, and what will they be published in? I think more details are in order before people start submitting.
  20. They're generally not majors, either (excluding college)
