Gabe Gallegos has been around so long. He will be missed when he finally ages out..this year? IIRC his rookie year with Troop was 2011.

Wow that opening impact from Cascades is fantastic! This is a corps that continues to impress me and I always feel like they outperform their scores.

It's really impressive that The Battalion has built up their membership to what looks like full size in just their third year competing.

They had those security checks the last time the band I teach went to Atlanta in 2016. It was ridiculous. The guidelines we were given by BOA ahead of time had all this stuff about how the students have to place their instrument on the ground and then step 3 feet to the side and take off their uniform top to be checked with a metal detector, which is not easy to do quickly with some modern uniforms. As it turns out we got there and the security people did absolutely nothing beyond a quick visual check as they walked by, no metal detectors, nothing. So of course we got there like 20 minutes before our gate time for nothing after walking over from the warmup area that was about a mile away. Always nice to have your biggest performance of the season when it's been over 30 minutes since the kids have played. They also said they would have friggin bomb sniffing dogs checking props, seriously, and of course that turned out to be false as well.

To put it into perspective, someone who marched in that 1980 corps could very conceivably have a grandchild who is marching now.

Last year I signed up for the month to month once it was less than a month until Finals. Missed some early shows but it was worth it to save the extra money, especially not knowing at the time what the quality of the streams would be like.

The percussion generally moves in separately from the rest of the corps for maybe a week. I don't know if this is the case this year, but many years a significant portion of the percussion section are UNT students (in Denton) where Paul Rennick teaches. They usually have the percussion-only Winter camps in Denton as well.

Definitely a sad day for DCI. They are no longer listed on the DCI website list of active corps. But their website doesn't mention anything about not competing this year, at least that I could find. Unfortunately this was probably inevitable with the steady loss of other Canadian corps over the last decade and DCI no longer having any shows in Canada.

I'm getting a kind of Troopers-esque vibe from those corps and DM uniforms. Maybe its the bandanna. Wonder if they're going to go sans headgear?

It isn't all the uncommon for there to be former SCV members who age out with BD. I would also guess that BD probably has had the fewest vets of any corps that leave the corps to march elsewhere.

Crown. I was very iffy on the show all season but it has really grown on me. Glad that the A/V folks were able to pull from different performances to make the vocals sound good for the CD. And I can only barely tell when listening through studio headphones, through speakers I would never hear it.

Hopefully not a late rights revocation that makes them have to pull and reedit the physical media ala Phantom 08.

BOA just released their 2018 schedule and they will not be returning to MBS. Will instead have their Atlanta show at McEachern. I assume this is due to what it cost to use the stadium in 2017. Obviously DCI has it secured for 2018 but this isn't a good sign for the future.

Believe it or not there are actually some US Navy training, research and command centers in Idaho. Though I doubt that has anything to do with Armada's name.

That's a shame for the members. Would hope DCI could maybe replace it with their Allentown performance. It wouldn't be the same quality as a video from Worlds but at least it would be something.

Yikes. With that much cut from the videos I may just buy the CD when they come out and wait till the prices drop next year to pick up the Blu-rays.
