  1. I'm not aware of any cultural aspect of the Renegades that would lend itself to damaging a hotel. If that was done it was done by individuals. Perhaps if there had been a pattern of hotel damage for more than one year, it could be said that the Renegades contributed to the situation. Otherwise, it was an single unfortunate incident that DCA can deal with in whatever way they choose.
  2. Just what are these many things the corps will have going on this season? I have to attend camp to find out ?!? See you on the 24th.
  3. Chris, this sounds like something I always wanted to be a part of. Experts only on G bugle playing 80's and 90's drum corps music! I think you will be very successful. If I wasn't going to be rehearsing and performing with the Renegades I would like to audition. I look forward to the inevitable Youtube videos of your group, and hopefully I'll catch a performance on the the Renegades LA tour. Best of Luck!
  4. Thank you from the Skare family to the San Francisco Renegades, and also to a few members of the Santa Clara Vanguard and the Concord Blue Devils, who played with the Renegades for Rich's memorial. The video of Ave Maria can be found at www.renegades.org I STOMP THEM !
  5. Vigilantes need one lead baritone player.
  6. Your are absolutely correct sir. In July it is common for DCA corps to perform in exhibition at DCI shows. It is very important to not suck as much as possible at these shows. A key element to being good is admission standards. These can be distilled down to talent and dedication. Talented people can play, spin, dance, and march very well. Dedicated people show up to rehearsals, and practice on their own in between camps. If standards means that a corps has to be a bit smaller, so be it. Putting out an outstanding product will attract new members, and before long numbers will be back up to normal, and maybe higher. Good Luck to Renegades, BD, aand SCV, who are all performing today at family day.
  7. Hey Big Dog. I have a LOUD and a Bach. Can't find my Bach. Not sure about the LOUD... Can you recommend a couple of alternatives for our G Dynasty Magnums? You should stop by one of our future camps. It would be good to see you. If you PM me with your email address, I'll email you an audio clip from last camp.
  8. I appreciate that Brad. Great camp. Listening to that audio clip over and over...want MORE !
  9. Saw MCL warming up outside, and made sure to have a good seat for their performance. Incredible trumpet soloists channeling Maynard, and an all around great sound. Star sounded like 40 horns they are so smooth and balanced. I'd like to know how they do that. Good genes?
  10. As Sev said, all methods. Don't forget to have a beer with my brother(Rich). See ya there!
  11. Yes, according to the Renegades web site it was an "officially judged performance with a mix of DCA and DCI judges."
  12. I'd love to see that Tom, but we have rehearsal today, so I'm stuck in Dallas. Next year, we'll try to schedule an off weekend for this show, and maybe Vigilantes can take a road trip up there and check out the top 6.
  13. Age is irrelevant as long as you are in shape. I'm not in great shape but i'm surviving.
  14. Monday, July 27th - 7:00pm Brass & Guard Guyer HS Saturday, August 1st - 9:00am Brass, Guard & Percussion AMX Corporation Monday, August 10th - 7:00pm Brass & Guard Guyer HS Remaining spots: 2 Baritone 2 High Brass 1 Contra 1 Bass Drum 1 Guard Thanks all!
  15. Your suggestion has merit 'Boat. I'll get member's opinions on that question. Also, I should mention that this group will rehearse indoors, or outdoors if the weather is comfortable. No Texas heat, or cold winter weather for this group!
  16. Thank you for the tip! If there is a legal way for the performers to get paid and the corps be a non profit, that would be better of course. I will look into that angle.
  17. (Posted this last week in the Brass forum. At the suggestion of my brother ContraRich77, posting here also to increase visibility. Thanks!) Greetings: I'm forming a "for profit" drum corps in the Dallas - Ft. Worth TX area. Phase 1 will be brass. Once that is solid, it will be easier to add guard and percussion. Once I have commitment from the minimum instrumentation, if that ever happens, the first rehearsal will be scheduled. Key elements: 1) No dues 2) After modest administrative costs, performance fees will be split among performers 3) Performers supply their own equipment and uniforms 4) High skill level required 5) Minimal group warm up / "instruction" 6) Emphasis on intonation 7) G bugles - or B flat if you can blend 8) Rehearsals - one week night per month - one extra rehearsal prior to a gig if needed - (schedule conflicts with other local drum corps will be avoided) 9) New music will be emailed to members well prior to playing it as a group for the first time - woodshed at home, refine and polish when we get together 10) All members will be treated as what they are - professionals Customers envisioned to be grand openings, conventions, sports teams, etc. We won't solicit gigs until we have well developed material. The main goal of the corps will be fun, not money. Please post or send me a private message. I will answer your questions and start a list of interested performers. Minimum instrumentation to schedule our first rehearsal would be 3 sops, 2 mellos, 2 contras, and 3 baritones/euphs. Other types of middle voices welcome as well. Thanks!
  18. Vigilantes D&BC, an all age corps in Dallas - Ft. Worth TX, is in need of 2 bass and 2 snares to complete our drum line. If you would like to learn from Paul Rennick and his team, please send me a PM, or show up at the next Vigilantes rehearsal with your sticks for an audition. Rehearsall times and locations can be found at www.vigilantescorps.org. Thanks!
  19. Vigilantes, an all age DFW corps, needs a Contra player and a few Baritone players to complete the horn line. Please visit www.vigilantescorps.org to find out the next rehearsal time and location. Thanks!
  20. Seems to be parallel evolution. Good point about the similarity to WGM. They are a good example these concepts can work. We would absolutely perform at drum corps shows if invited and our schedule is clear. Yes that would be a bit of a drive from Houston for you. Darn...
