  1. I meant to click the +1 for this, but honestly my thumb slipped! This is the truth! The number of one corps' score means next to nothing! It's all about how one corps performance relates to the corps before and after it, therefore, the spreads are the key. Any caption scores within 0.3 of each other is a virtual tie. That means that the judge recognizes that if they were perhaps standing at a different spot on the field - or if the corps lined up and performed again - they could have flipped placements in that judge's caption. If you look at the finals caption scores last year for brass Blue Devils:.19.80 Cavaliers:....19.40 Bluecoats:...19.30 Crown:.......19.20 Cadets:.......19.10 There is an obvious gap of 0.4 between the Cavaliers and BD, showing that the judge believed there to be an obvious gap in the brass performance between the two groups. Between the Cavaliers and the next three corps, there is only a 0.1 point difference between each of them! That judge is telling us through scores that they believed them to be so very close that if they were to line up again, there could have been a change in their opinion of placements. All of these scores are good! But the numbers don't matter. The space between is where the true information lies.
  2. Second is close. You could have just said "a corps that hasn't won yet." Thats kind of a punk move to say that. Though I have to say that I agree that they are a relatively new corps. That is a quantifiable fact. (roughly) 20 years is a lot less than 76 years. And egos aren't bad unless they go unchecked. I haven't personally had any terrible experiences with anyone affiliated with Crown, so I can't say that I know about any "huge egos' they may or may not have.
  3. I know a few people who have done 6 or more years. One of them marched Glassmen and Bluecoats for a total of 8 years. One of them is in his sixth year with the Bluecoats for 2011 and aging out. There are still "super-vets" around.
  4. Don't the Blue Devils usually wait til like... July?
  5. That is almost as plausible as the the rest of their list.
  6. Any corps who is obviously better than a corps participating in the ToC will get their credit. Judges are usually ok at getting things generally correct. Just like always.
  7. Technically, the only thing that the bluecoats have announced is that we'll be using a Mackey piece. Nothing about the show, or the rest of the music. Which is less than the Blue Stars who are on this poll. Anyway, I voted for BD
  8. I think that both winning and entertaining the audience come into play for everyone. Though, I don't believe that anyone actually thinks "how can we make this boring?" when they're designing a show. It's just that some have different ideas of "exciting" than others. The designers and staff at Crown certainly know how to make things exciting for the people in the stands.
  9. Off season information is nothing more than a way to get fans hyped and excited. Which is a pretty good thing I think.
  10. Well, Crown certainly came out strong last year. They had their own little undefeated streak going on until Akron (I think). Of course, the Blue Devils were far, far away. And the Cavaliers didn't start too hot this past year, but that didn't stop them from ending in 2nd.
  11. Probably not, but that would be interesting if it was the exact same for the top 8 at the beginning and end.
  12. hahaha awesome. Way to make a point in a new, fun and interesting way.
  13. I know I have moments where I lack tact... but wow. I hope you can learn how to cheer up sometime very soon.
  14. Buy DCI Finals Tickets from the Bluecoats
  15. Bruckner, you always know how to put a smile on my face. I think you and I might get along.
  16. That's certainly a good reason to not take naps, but I think it just comes down to the individual and how their body acts after sleep. I think it's everyone's responsibility to do all they can to be ready for the show. For some that is taking a nap. For others, it's staying wide awake. Whatever works! P.S. I think our guard wasn't allowed to take naps on the way to shows for a little while because of a few of them being groggy once... or something like that. I don't really remember.
  17. Its awesome that america is making fun of that video at every chance it gets. Even DCP! love it.
  18. Has this really happened? ...yikes. I wouldn't want anyone to get up and leave while I perform, so I won't be doing that to anyone else (unless something more important than drum corps is going on and I have a good reason to leave).
  19. You beat me to it! That is one of my favorite movements I've ever performed.
  20. It's not official until the corps announces it and the owner of the copyrights grants them permission to use it.
  21. Our vet bus would sing along to Don't Stop Me Now all the time, Queen is such great hype music.
  22. You'll have a great summer! Michael Lopez is a good guy and will not lead you astray as your drum major.
