  1. Yes, I wish for the good old days too like the Spartacus ballet in the 1950's and the movie in 1960's. I'm sure they left the violence out when the ballet was composed and choreographedy or the movie where Kirk Douglas skips off into the sunset at the end. sheeshh.

  3. I thought the same thing. The capes would enhance most of their recent shows but this one with the running is the least cape friendly. I still like the show and like the capes. Are the capes supposed to be absurd or will they keep them next year?
  4. Is that a 0(zero) at the beginning outstanding rather than an O? If it is, it will probably be in the name of a World Class show next year.
  5. Hey Mods, I haven't seen kwftp57 on here in a while, will you guys close it without an OP request????
  6. As I said the other day: I was wondering when (or what corps) would be the first to do this. You are UP TWO and two corps with higher scores than you are GONE! Come on Scouts fans, you are in the top 9 that's a pretty good position that some corps scoring higher than you this year are not enjoying in this game.
  7. Wow, I'm somewhere between the first two on Blue Stars. They are not anywhere in my list of most creative shows this year. I think they are a good corps and scoring where they should, which is a HUGE acomplishment for this corps. Most creative: 1) Blue Devils 1a) Phantom Regiment The Blue Devils have added so many nuances that have never been seen in a DCI show before that you have to put them among the most creative. Phantom has not added any thing new but the artistry of their show is “creative” in my mind.
  8. It's been 1/4 for years, it look like 1/3 this year.
  9. Maybe they could alter the stage into a sundial for them to push around durning the show.

  11. I DO NOT understand the dud comment but I agree that we could see the effects of gas prices more at championships than any other shows. There have been some reports that people are doing more things locally and maybe the local drum corps show is one of the fun things added to a family's summer budget in place of that trip to Disneyworld.

  13. How about we give the Scouts the "slow and steady" classification? I would rather have that anyway, until championships then everyone wants to be HOT.
  14. dciguy01 has done this all season, why complain today? No one seems to mind until their corps is lower than they were yesterday.
  15. Oh he's been thowing two or three pairs of glasses on the filed right before The Cadets perform FOR YEARS. Nobody ever complained until this year.
  16. It's crazy to say reaching 4th is a negative thing but sign me up for the nut house. The best two corps that Bluecoats have ever had FOLLOWED that 4th place corps. It may be bad to get 4th if the following years are looked on as a decline. I hope recruits don't look at this corp as declining. Hey kids, they ARE NOT! Last year was a little better than this year and judging by the rookie number reported earlier in this thread that is to be expected. I would love to have a "rebuilding" year and be sitting one spot higher than the best corps in the history of the organization.

  18. I'm not sure what you are saying either. Current? There are three whose scores are currently in the top 12. Two who were in the top 12 in the most recent regional. I guess you meant one from last year's finals. EDIT: Sorry, just saw your clarification; probably should have said "reigning" maybe.
  19. Wow, I was not expecting that from you because your corps is exactly what I was talking about. DCI does not even try to hide their lack of specialization in judging general effect. The same judges will judge brass, percussion or colorguard one night and the general effect captions the next night. They are still judging the technical aspects of the show. How the 2008 Troopers “effect” me (and the audiences that I have seen them with) should be reflected in some (not all but at least one or two) of their captions. I would like to see judges with a specialty. The ones we have are excellent but why not seek those with a different background (I don’t have all the answers, theater maybe) if they are judging effect. How do I define that? How do we define visual and music effect now? Aren’t different judges definitions different today? Judging is subjective. Just give the same criteria to some judges who don’t have the same background as all of the other captions. And no, it’s not easy, it IS never easy, the judges do a GREAT job. I just expect more from DCI the governing organization. Sorry Blue Knights, pinwiz caught me by surprise. Highjack ended; please proceed with your thread.
  20. It doesn’t matter to me. WAIT Scouts Honks don’t flame me, I’m on my way to a compliment. I don’t care whether it’s the Scouts or the Crossmen because they both have entertaining shows that I like more than several corps that are “set” for finals this year. I wish the Scouts MUCH luck!
  21. Me either but I'm still at work so something might be blocking it. I noticed that some previous K C preformances are listed to replay, I hope I can watch Xmen from home later.
  22. I don’t blame anyone associated with the Blue Knights for exploring a blueprint that has given them some level of success. I DO blame a DCI organizational philosophy that seems to ignore the entertainment of the general public in judging their shows. I am not very entertained by the 2000’s BK shows and I am a fairly informed audience member but I see a majority of casual fans sitting on their hands during BK shows. If I were in their staff would I change my shows with the level of success they are achieving? NO WAY. If DCI as an organization does not see esoteric shows (and there are little doses of BK in more and more other corps shows each year) as a problem in attracting a larger audience or keeping the current one, then the Blue Knights should continue with their unique style. Now if I was running DCI, I would change the system of judging to ensure that General Effect more closely reflected what the majority of the crowd likes. The colorguard, percussion and brass are being judged, this will maintain the quality. Have every corps attempt to give your audiences an "effect" thrill. My business/economic philosophy is simple, a performance organization that derives much of it’s income off of tickets sales must try to maximize it's entertainment value.

  24. I was wondering when (or what corps) would be the first to do this. You are UP TWO and two corps with higher scores than you are GONE!
