  1. Let's see...just watched live feed. Percussion smoking hot. Probably win Sanford. Brass will be strong. Dont think they'll win Ott. Guard, I know it's early, but... Think the all black is too dark. Not feeling the "new" visual design. And I'm not a traditionalist. Agree with others. Too much rolling on ground. Seemed very "cluttered", for lack of a better word. Musically, liked the ballad the most. Loved French horn sound. The rest hmmm... If last year was a 4th place show it will be interesting to see where this ends up. Feel that Power of Ten was stronger and farther along at this point. Could be year where they start slower and finish at top?
  2. Just wanted to include this in the thread. This was my response to those who are in an uproar of MLK being included in the Propaganda video teaser released by the Cavaliers. "What we define as propoganda may just be in the eye of the beholder. In 1963 when the speech was given many black radical leaders, some government politicians and residents in the south felt that the speech was taken to extremes. In fact, after the speech, the FBI deemed King a major enemy of the United States. As quoted below from a report. "In the light of King's powerful demagogic speech yesterday he stands head and shoulders above all other Negro leaders put together when it comes to influencing great masses of Negroes. We must mark him now, if we have not done so before, as the most dangerous Negro of the future in this Nation from the standpoint of communism, the Negro and national security." My point....looking back, we can see the importance of the speech. But at the time some in our country viewed it as ...well... Propaganda. Maybe the Cavies weren't as far off in the inclusion as some thought?"

  4. The corps also received their brand new Yamaha horns a few days ago as well.
  5. Just filled my survey. Made sure to put a lovely comment on how much I appreciated (sarcasm) the 7th-12th place scores of finals night being posted on social media before the top six even performed. Loved the reaction of those sitting around me when I knew the placements and exact scores before they were announced in the stadium...lol
  6. In all honesty if this announcement had been made circa. 2011 I would have been freaking out. But given the results of the last few years, I'm excited for what a change may bring the organization.
  7. After 18 years as program coordinator Scott Koter retires from the Cavaliers. Per twitter and Cavaliers.org
  8. A lot of us said this would happen. Earlier I said this would happen but not by the +1.7 lead phantom had in Allentown. Tonight the judges dropped that to .125 which btw is an increase of 1.85 for the cavies while phantom improved their score by only .175. Cavies are still on the mend. Indy should be interesting.
  9. That may very we'll happen. But I'm going to guess it won't be by +1.8 like the Allentown gaps. If it happens, margin will be closer.
  10. Totally agree with this. Not to mention the fact that the Cavies were/are recovering from last weeks plague. And the Saturday corps have that extra day of rehearsal. What I find most interesting, if you look at the judges recap phantom basically maxed out their show as far as content and achievement. Cavies total difference is 2.7 points. Also the fact that Cavies score was the biggest drop from the TOC show Thursday night at -1.7. If you look at the scores from the 5 corps representing the top 12 Friday night they averaged a drop of .8 from the night before. The same grouping in Saturday night averaged an increase of .3. That's a 1.1 point swing from previous scores. Oh well...everything will get sorted out in a few days.
  11. Ummm.....same judges tonight as last night. Not sure how some on here are predicting Phantom and Madison to best the Cavies by 3 or 4 points. Not saying they won't score higher. But odds are if they weren't beating the cavies when the men were marching 20 holes and no props they're probably not going to out score them by a large margin.
  12. Guessing 6 to 8 holes in brass. Maybe 4 or 5 in guard. Too many missing to use the props tonight. Boxes are still in though. Too many gone logistically to use safely.
  13. Mentioned this earlier in thread. Maybe use last nights score in average? I'm sure the staff must of consulted dci before making decisions. Or some rule must be in place for this.
  14. Just regular shows. Not regionals. Really sucks. I'm sure the kids are bummed. The corps should use the rest of the weekend to get better. They have rehearsal days Monday and Tuesday. Maybe use them to get back on track.
  15. I wonder how dci will figure performance order now with Cavies out. Maybe use the score from last nights performance? I wouldn't think they would just average San Antonio and Allentown.
  16. The crazed fan thing happened to me at Finals 2012. I was in a section surrounded by Crown parents. Needless to say, after the scores were announced I've never heard so many obscenities and complaints in my life, that includes sporting events. "Judges are ****ing idiots" "Blue Devils are ruining the activity" Etc Etc Etc........ Not to mention the fact that they didn't applaud or acknowledge any corps other then Crown. I was actually embarrassed for them. And would've been mortified if they were my parents.
  17. You do realize BK hasn't been in a competition against any of the current Top 8 in a while. Those current scores from tonight mean nothing until they meet head to head.
  18. That's why I can't :( I'm on app. Thought I was going crazy
  19. To answer the OP question ... Could the Cavies be missing out on_______? I think the biggest thing the Cavies are missing out on is Michael Gaines. Bringing ladies into the equation would change the identity and history of the corps. Member talent is not the problem. Design team changes need to be made. Brass seem to be headed in right direction, percussion always strong. Visually changes need to happen in both show design and guard. As a designer they should see that.,,.the show NEEDS a pre show, like mad world did. It can set the stage maybe help explain concept of the show. The run boy run section would work much better if one individual was picked out and referenced by the singer. Then the boy can run run run when he tells him to run :) Maybe use one individual throughout the show to tie everything together. I think little changes/additions could drastically narrow the focus of the show and help the audience to understand better. (Hopefully I'm safe in assuming a new ending too)
  20. My point is not that it was a "home show" for Phantom. The TOC rotates which corps performs last. Usually the corps that goes last is considered the home corps. Cavies TOC "home show" is in Texas (huge Cavies fan base). My point was , Cavies spent a total of 120 miles on buses traveling to and from Rosemont as well as an afternoon of fun marching a parade and picnic. Focus wasn't there. Evident in tonight's performance.
  21. Not that it's an excuse for the Cavies but TODAY: A) slept till 10 B) travelled to Rosemont C) marched in Rosemont Parade D) got to spend afternoon at Rosemont Picnic until 4pm E) back to stadium for warmup F) perform Unfortunately the lack of rehearsal time definitely hurt the focus of the members. Watching the show you can see and hear the errors that weren't there last night. Also performance order and TOC home show for Phantom may also have played a part.
  22. Read the article on Cavaliers.org it answers your question. It is a position created to cover all the new directions the organization is moving in, including 2 WGI drum lines and colorguard.
  23. how do you get it to work on the IPad? Working great on iPhone but would like to watch on iPad
