  1. I agree totally! (sorry....couldn't resist)
  2. Standing right next to James, I was remembering seeing Spirit in Louisiana back in the late 70's & early 80's. The power of this hornline is roughly equivalent (as equivalent as you can get on Bb horns). They have a nice sound throughout the low brass and middle voices, but (no fault of the kids) those trumpets are just sooo spread and thin. (I wonder to myself what that low brass plus 20 sops would sound like...hmmmm) The kids were really tired when we were there, but unlike other corps I've seen at the end of all-days, everyone was upbeat and just having the time of their lives. REALLY good stuff. I concur with James that elevated placement is CERTAINLY within their reach.
  3. Allright, Burstall, You've crossed the line! BWAAHAAHAHAAHAHA
  4. Ok, I'm offended. Anyone who knows me at all can testify to the fact that I, indeed, have *NO* booty whatsoever. b**bs
  5. I kinda see his point, BigBad. I'd take the Madison you were in over anything done recently. You guys just knew how to 1) throw down and 2) entertain.
  6. I have to ask, as I don't see any specific reference by you to which one, but you can see your boys twice this year. Next week at Powder Springs and then again at the ATL regional in the dome. Come in on 75 (if you're still in FL, that is) Downtown Atlanta If Powder Springs, you can get there by coming into town and taking the 285 perimeter Westward. When you hit I-20, turn left (westbound). Go out to highway 92 and turn north (right). Follow the signs through the small town of Douglasville. Continue about 10-15 miles North. When you pass over 278, start paying attention. You come to Highway 360, and need to turn right. Go a few miles to 176 and turn right again. McEachern High School is ahead on the right. You just passed by dozens of inexpensive hotels. Take your pick. :) Hope that helps!
  7. The hornline this year is the best sound I've heard from them in a looooooong time.
  8. Don't forget that I'm right bhind you at that point in the show. You're in excellent aiming range. ^0^
  9. Wow... the bravado to talk to whom you are speaking to in the manner you are speaking to him is considerably more vile and disgusting than any hangover I've ever heard. Have a little respect for Cozy.
  10. Back in the winter, I was listening to all the goodness on Seasonpass. I would go just about every day, and enjoyed listening to the whole archive. Once day in the morning, I logged in and saw quite a few more corps listed than the day before. Much to my surprise, I saw The Caballeros, Brigadiers, and even CorpsVets. Now, there wasn't any *content* there, but the links to quite a few Sr/Alumni corps were there. A couple hours later, as quickly as it had appeared, it was gone. I mentioned it to a few people, but no one else had seen it. In fact, I just went there and see it here: http://seasonpass.dci.org/audio/ Answered my own question. It appears that people who pay DCI region dues or whatever are going to get some space on the seasonpass? I see Chops, Corpsvets, Cincinatti Tradition, Govies, Kilties, MBI, MCL, Renegades, River City, Dream, and Govies. Any clues as to the plans for this?
  11. That wouldn't happen to have anything to do with the page full of Jr. AND Sr. corps links I saw up for about two hours one day this past winter, would it?
  12. Hey, I'm happy to see that the Bucs Alumni consider us to be rivals this year! You guys going open class now? :P :-D If I didn't know you and your posting like I do, I might've gotten a little furry at the poking at my brothers, but it's all good! Let the games begin! (That looks like the standstill from the Jersey Surf show. Isn't it? After all that rain, I think only Surf and us were there)
  13. News flash... April was at Spirit's rehearsal tonight.
  14. You said you would never speak of that! b**bs
  15. I hope that King and Selmer can continue to provide similar quality instruments at a good price. The reason for going Bb was price to a certain degree. It'd be a flaming hoot if Kanstul and DEG instruments in G wind up being cheaper than horns of similar quality of manufacture in Bb.
  16. That's the typical liberal response... 1. Straw man argument 2. Throw Blame, talk down to detractors, initiate double-talk. 3. ? 4. Profit!
  17. just don't come and screw up my six-figure IT job with this garbage. There is a reason we IT workers refuse to unionize, and it has to do with zeroes, vacation, and freedom. </MovingOn>
  18. <Soapbox> Your phrase "in the past" is the key here. The majority of the work the unions did for us in the 50's and 60's was desperately needed. And while the rumor it was for wages (that's how minimum wage came about), the truth is that an entire government department was created to handle this key issue and that issue is safety. OSHA regulations have all but eliminated the horrible working conditions that strikers procured for the working people in America. OSHA has been a lifeblood to all those who were in those conditions and dying from the effects of working environments in "less enlightened" times. As of today, however, the need for unions has thoroughly diminished. More importantly, since unions have primarily been co-opted by liberal-leaning organizations and causes to effect political change, they have become largely useless. Look at Delta. They will go out of business here soon when the pilots strike, and MANY employees will be on the street due to the actions of unions. Look at the strike of the players unions for the NHL, NBA, and MLB. Why again do millionaires who continue to make numbers in the millions of dollars need to strike again? Look at the teachers in Ohio (Hudson County to be precise) striking. I did a little research, and found out that the band director was making 80k, and was striking. Why was that again? The use and need for unions has long passed into oblivion. Government regulation and federal safety standards havemade it so you, the common worker, can BURY a company that has non-compliant working standards, and your feet can get you a new job. You are not ENTITLED to healthcare, a pension, a retirement. Instead, take personal responsibility for your own future and save/invest/plan for the future. If your current job doesn't suit you, find another one. And while I'm at it, my biggest beef with unions comes from my experience with the worker's unions in the chemical/petroleum plants of Louisiana. I was doing a contract for Exxon/Mobil in Baton Rouge in 1996. I had to install a server in the main office. When I got to the gate, the union representative (yes, they keep one at the gate) told me I couldn't carry in the server because I wasn't a mechanic. I said "A mechanic? It's a computer. I need to have it in today." He said "I don't care. That's a machine, and you're not a mechanic. You'll need to wait for a mechanic to move that to the implementation site." I asked how long before I could get a mechanic. He said something to the effect of "two or three weeks". OnceI got past that stupidity, I had to move a board 3 feet. It was not nailed in anywhere, nor was it affixed to anything. But the union representative wouldn't let me move this board because I wasn't a carpenter. I had to go BACK to the management and get this guy out of my hair. Are all unions this way? Of course not, but this is a fine example of what happens when you allow union labor to run wild. Again, I appreciate and really support all the work that unions did in the early days. Heck, Reagan was the president of the AFL-CIO in those days in California. However, their usefulness has long passed, their arrogance has balooned beyond control, and they have become little more than an expression of little more than organized crime bullying employers (and in some states forcing employees to pay union dues EVEN WHEN THEY REFUSE TO BE A MEMBER OR SUPPORT THE UNION because they browbeat the local lawmakers into forcing that power into law. This day and age, I have no love lost for unions. Their effect on the working world is tantamount to that of organized crime, and I wholeheartedly denounce most union actions today (in excess of 70%). It is unfortunate that greedy people have wrangled control of unions for themselves in such a way. There are still cases where they could do some good (disclaimer: I haven't seen the video above) and could actually help the American worker, but they are FAR overshadowed by the acts of a few greedy men in powerful places. </Soapbox>
  19. I'm going to do everything I can to get to: Philadelphia Mike's off the Toll Road @ Fairfax County Parkway BD's Mongolian Barbecue in Bethesda ANY Bob Evans for breakfast. I also want to go piddling around Woodbridge and Dumfries just for old time's sake.
  20. Maybe the way *YOU* drive it, Grandma! ^0^ ^0^
  21. Unfortunately, I think you guys scheduled that show after we commited to another show on the same day. (I'd have to check my schedule). The Atlanta Regional for DCI being in the same town is a bit hard to snub and possibly not have those recruiting/exhibition opportunities in the future because we hacked someone off.
  22. I hear there's treatments for that for your age group... ^0^
  23. This is absolutely true, folks! Sean's shirts + Orlando Sun == Bad juju!
