  1. Their pre-show had synth playing a violin part as the merchant guy acted like he was playing it.
  2. Don't forget how well WGI utilizes them. I mean, they're basically Indoor Percussion's colorguard, but at the same time, they have a good bit of notes as well. Most of the time they only really add impact to accents and whatnot, but they're still useful.
  3. I think other than some balance issues, most Corps used them relatively effectively. They weren't used as a mainstay of anyone's show, and I think that this year actually had a lot LESS percussion-only breaks than 2008. It seemed to me that there was a whole lot more full ensemble playing this year, instead of just park n bark, then run around while the pit plays. Then again, I haven't watched the DVDs of 2009 repeatedly like I did with 2008, so I could be wrong.
  4. Great to see another Corps in the running! Good luck to all of you.
  5. Though I lack the expertise to really talk about much of anything in your post, that high school arrangement is hot. I see no reason why a Corps couldn't do something similar.
  6. I'd love to see more all-age Corps competing in Junior Corps shows, and more junior Corps competing in all-age Corps shows. The more the merrier, I say!
  7. Or Bluecoats 2008. Or Bluecoats 2007. Or Bluecoats 2006. Etc. I'd like both, as well. Troopers 2009 had some pretty tasty, musical, licks, and they were very clean. Blue Knights 2008 as well.
  8. You do realize that DCA Corps practice on weekends only, right? That's maybe 12-16 hours of good practice time a week, as opposed to a touring Corps' 12 hours a day practicing? I don't really think you can make comparisons like that. Even so, I've heard some DCA Corps that could surprise quite a few people in DCI. Reading, Minni Brass, and Renegades being only a few.
  9. I personally like attempting to hit your dot, but dressing the form just in case.
  10. Sun Devils, just to learn. Teal would be a good place to go from there. www.sundevilscorps.org
  11. Unless every top 12 show in 2010 is a championship-worthy show, attendance will probably drop considerably.
  12. Teal Sound's tuition is 2800. Cavaliers is around 2200, I think. This is nothing new or shocking.
  13. I personally love the sound of Dynasty snares, but Yamahas (with remo heads, not evans) FEEL so much better.
  14. Boston Crusaders have camps in Florida, so if you transferred to a Florida school, you may be able to march there. Austin is close to Crossmen, LSU is close to Spirit. Wisconsin will be close to Blue Stars and Madison Scouts. From that list, you have a lot of options.
  15. I want to hear a G sop soloist. Ultra loud screaming, anyone?
  16. I wouldn't mind if they played 2008's closer again.
  17. Sun Devils had about 5 or 6 members with a 5+ hour commute (Florida is a long state), myself being one of them. My friend Joe (mello) and I would drive down every weekend, being about an hour or two late to practice, and so would all of the members that lived in the Jacksonville area. It's really not all that difficult. A lot of money spent on gas, but if you car pool, it's alright.
