  2. One thing most people bring that I've never found I needed is a sleeping bag. Sweatshirt, sweatpants, pillow and sleeping mat for sleep. If it's not a lot of floortime I just grab my pillow (that's already on the bus) and grab 30 minutes of sleep while everyone else slaves over inflating their beloved airbed (I use a normal Boy-Scoutish airmat). If there's more floortime I'll get it out, but honestly I'm always tired enough to be able to fall asleep without being 100% comfortable. Bring a power strip with your chargers electrical-taped to it. Write your name on a little duct tape flag, so if you ever leave it in the gym the drumline (or whoever cleans up the gym in your corps) knows who to give it to (I know I'm fairly merciless in throwing unlabeled stuff away when in a rush to clean up).
  3. Uh oh, guess I should have paid more attention. Maybe we were too busy enjoying how awesome the air conditioning is I notice just as bad of an echo on Allentown's field as I do in the domes.
  4. When I asked around other members of my corps after semis we pretty much all agreed that we love it in LoS. (roof closed please).
  5. Most of BD's show, but I don't recognize the music so I cant put a name on it :/ (Can anyone help with this? Like a list of songs in the order of the show so I can follow along on fan network) Surf's preshow Crown's opening hit and two pit features (Ironman and Paint it Black) Cavalier's Nature Boy Madison's whole show
  6. Madison Scouts, Jersey Surf, Blue Devils. (And Blue Knights, Phantom Regiment and the Troopers)
  7. As a marcher (and returning member) of an open class corps making it basically a requirement to use us as a feeder corps would be offensive. People who join usually make it painfully obvious they plan on leaving ASAP, this would compound the problem.
  8. 1) Blue Devils 2) Bluecoats 3) Cavaliers 4) Santa Clara 5) Crown 6) Cadets 7) Blue Stars 8) Phantom Regiment 9) Madison Scouts 10) Boston Crusaders 11) The Glassmen 12) Blue Knights 13) Troopers 14) Academy 15) Colts 16) Spirit 17) Jersey Surf 18) The Crossmen 19) Pacific Crest 20) Teal Sound 21) Mandarins 22) Pioneer 23) Cascades
  9. "Lower" corps have all the same costs as the "upper" corps but they have a much smaller pool giving them money through donations, large bingos, etc. I'm impressed smaller corps can offer competitive rates. And the drum corps experience doesn't diminish when you leave the "top".
  10. The squawk right at the end of the beautiful Crown ballet in 08 (07?)
  11. Bluecoats 2010 Bari solo and synth voice were both perfect. Cadets 07.
  12. Blue Stars. Love that mello line. It's so unique, I'm surprised more haven't copied it yet.
  13. Glassmen - 1997 Madison Scouts - 2008 Phantom Regiment - 2008 Blue Devils - 2007 Madison Scouts - 1996 Santa Clara Vanguard - 1989 Bluecoats - 2010 They're the top tier, there's about 10 others shows around tied on my 'next tier' of top shows.
  14. "Can I see the rack tanline?" Also, lol at lying straight to the DM's face.
  15. In my corps a "bando" was basically someone a corps member used to feel better about themselves. Quite the annoying term.
  16. What's the golden 64 ratio people are talking about? How does it split out? And I think it's good that different corps have different ratios (or different sounds, I've never been one to count). I love the Blue Stars having a mello-heavy sound, but I love BD with their trumpets too. Different styles of music, different corps histories need different hornline ratios. For the record I would still go to drum corps shows if it was battery and a (clean) hornline of 120 blowing my face off for 11 minutes.
  17. My corps had a system where if you did a mental "tick" in a rep you would silently do 5 pushups during field time. If you didn't want to do them that was your own choosing, the field techs wouldn't punish you for not doing them.
  18. Tour fees around 2300 probably, I used about $50 in cash for laundry/food while on tour, then you'd have to figure out travel costs (if you're flying or driving to camps).
  19. You're probably the kind of fan that walked out on Jersey Surf right before their home-show performance. I'm sure the kids loved watching the fans pour out of the stadium right before they performed.
  20. I'm marching Drum Corps this year. I will march until I turn 21. I will enjoy the activity regardless of the politics behind it. I hope fans don't ruin my performance at Indy because they are mad. Now I'm getting off DCP until August.
