  1. The opening statement in SCV's show sounds AMAZING with trombones. Gives them a nice dark sound.
  2. Allentown - 1999 - Watched SCV practice before the show. Hornline worked on Blue Shades the entire time. I'd say it was a good way to start out my love for DCI.
  3. Crown wins percussion. Did not see that one coming.
  4. Love this show. Great music and visual. Drill is very effective. It's going to be close all the way up until finals between Cadets, Crown and BD. I hope it's between Cadets and BD. I really do not enjoy Crown's show this year, which is rare for me. I know they sound amazing, but the show does nothing. Cadets are amazing and so is BD...and SCV...and Phantom...and Bluecoats...and...well, they're all pretty darn good this year.

  6. 1 - Blue Devils - BD 95 got me hooked on drum corps when I was 10 years old, so BD will always be my favorite. And I am proud to admit it, BD 2010 is one of my favorite shows of all time. 2 - Santa Clara Vanguard - Second most listened to corps and have always loved them. First show I ever saw them live was 99. Loved that show. 3 - Phantom Regiment - This one was hard. I have enjoyed the Bluecoats...but I don't there's enough shows that I like from to put in my 3rd place. And there are WAY too many shows I enjoy from Phantom.
  7. Scores are up. Let the fun begin. Blue devils - 76.15 Crown - 75.45 SCV - 72.6 Blue Knights - 69.05 Pacific Crest - 62.350 Mandarins - 59.7 Open Class BDB - 61.15 VC - 60.45 BDC - 43.9
  8. Hey everyone, does anyone know what Madison used for sound effects in the beginning of their show for Pirates of Lake Mendota? Thanks
  9. It's just the same complaints about BD year after year. If you don't like the show, well then good for you. I happen to like it. I also don't agree with the thought process of: "Since I don't like this corps and their show is boring to me, they don't deserve to win." I think it's childish. I personally did not like Cadets show last year. I did not find the music engaging. BUT.....I still completely understand why they won, I understand why they beat BD. They were better the corps.
  10. Big BD Fan here. Great season to all the corps, a truly GREAT and enjoyable season. I hate to say this since I'm not a fan of Hopkins, but what a great design he and the Cadets staff put together this year. As much as I hate to see BD lose, I'm glad they lost to this show. I just hope the Cadets continue down this path of design. I'm already looking forward to next season!
  11. Yea, I'm not overly surprised with the scores. Finals is going to come down to who is judging that night. I'm more shocked over the spread between Blue Devils/Cadets and Cav's.
  12. If you watched BD 05 backwards, the show would've made a slightly more sense, but only slightly.
  13. Well said, but I think the Cadets in the mid 2000's got just as much criticism for their use of vocals.
  14. It's odd situation. I can only speak for myself, but I don't mind those that don't like BD's show. That's an opinion, you're entitled. I have no problem with that. I think most of us BD fans are angry at the disrespect BD is getting. It's all of the "bd doesn't do this, but the cav's or cadets do, so therefore BD doesn't deserve 1st place." Or the old excuse that DCI is biased with BD. If that was the case, BD would've been in first place all season. As soon as BD pushes into the lead, the bashing started. It wasn't from everyone, but there were those who just made statements that couldn't be backed up. I think that's why of some of us are bringing this up.
  15. Accept my corps didn't march the most. They're all so close together, 10 seconds doesn't really matter that much.
  16. Well boredom has got the best of me, so i decided to go on the website that I cannot name, and watch the top 3 corps and look at how many seconds each corps stands still with at least half the corps standing still. I also added the times when a corps was doing a stationary visual. Here's what I got. Cav's - 2 minutes and 41 seconds BD - 2 minutes and 52 seconds cadets - 3 minutes and 8 seconds After watching the drill, it is obvious that the Cavaliers have the most dangerous drill of the three and the most direction changes. But I also found it really interesting that when they stood still for long periods of time, the hornline wasn't playing(at least when BD stands still, they play). Also, the most difficult drill by the hornline is being done during drum solos. Not all of the time, but the majority of the time. It's the Cavalier style, they've been doing it for a long time, it works, so why would they change it? After watching Bd's drill, they move very fast. The bpms are extremely high at times, best and cleanest jazz running and a lot of large formations. I would consider them the opposite of the Cav's, which I think is why all the Cavalier fans dislike BD so much. I also noticed that BD is always doing something. If they're not playing and/or marching, there's a visual in there. But I find it interesting that everyone says they barely move, yet they are moving more than the Cadets are. They're downfall in their drill is they have very little high risk drill moves, which turns off some fans. Cadet's just need to clean. They have the show, they just need to clean. Their drill and music scream GE. The idea is simple, you can get the show watching it once and it's a great concept. They have a lot of points when they are standing still and near the end of the show, there is a lot of slow marching at the big sections. Is it a bad thing, absolutely not. When they're running around the field for the first 6 minutes, they need a break. But I am, just like the original poster, sick of hearing how BD doesn't march. There are PLENTY of sections where the Cadets aren't moving and playing loud, just like BD. Cav's do it to, but in a different way. All in all, each of these 3 corps do it their own way, which makes them all unique. Which is a good thing for drum corps. Personally, I'm a BD fan. I've liked all of their shows and 2010 is probably my favorite. Do I hate the Cadets and Cav's. Nope. I love a lot of their shows. Cadets 93 and Cav's 00 are up their on my list of favorites. I am too tired of the BD hate and the blatant lies. But I guess it comes with the territory.
  17. I have a quick question? Because I hear a lot of people on DCP talking about how the only reason BD is in first is because of poloticis. So if it's politics for BD winning so much these past couple years, what was it when the Cav's were winning so much between 2000 and 2006?
  18. Lol. So true. If I were the Cadets, I wouldn't be worried. .7 is not a big lead, and anything can happen from now until finals. 2008 proved that. And I'm also sure the BD staff is telling them they haven't won anything yet. They had to earn this push, and now they need to keep it up. But out of the top 3, it's anyone's game.
