Yes to Giacchino! As for your second thought, that would be fantastic. Cavies? -

I, for one, would love to see so many drum corps shows about various types of cheese. -

Oh wow, just looking at that sheet music makes me feel the urge to go and practice for November... Great solo, one of my favorite moments of the year, thanks for posting! -

This year, I think was a great year altogether from my viewpoint. And Madison's show I think is definitely my favorite or second favorite out of everything that I saw, Cavies, Scouts, Bloo, and Regiment were my favorites out of all. I really enjoyed most shows that I saw this year. Key word most! -
Well, I bought tickets with a couple of my friends to go to the show tonight, it said it would be starting at 5:30 (Central). We grab a bite to eat, get to the theater and settle down. Theater is about half-full and everyone is awaiting the live feed to start. The screen shows what looks like a pay-per-view menu and some stuff about a satellite connection with a progress bar slowly filling up, then resetting. It was slightly unsettling but nothing too major, I hoped. The screen goes black and we sit there forever waiting, it's well past 5:30 and as the crowd gets impatient one of the theater staff walks in with a large plastic smile. He explains that there is a technical difficulty with the satellite and that the show would be cancelled. We would get two rain check passes for each in attendance, but no Quarterfinals. All the while some of my friends who chose to go to a different, nearby theater were able to watch it. Lovely.

High School spring concert tomorrow night, so I can't make it to the showing unfortunately. At least I'll be going to the San Antonio (Converse?) show this summer!

San Antonio Venue Announced

Well I know I'll be going for sure. It'll be with a school group, band leadership thing and we'll go both days. I'm just hoping that we get decent seats and these band kids can appreciate a good drum corps show. Bring on the heat! -
How About the Youngsters?

I'm still very new to Drum Corps (Been into it only a couple of years), the first time I had ever heard of any drum corps was when I learned that our marching band's uniforms are based off of the Blue Devils. Well, it turns out our uniforms are actually based off of BDB, but that's beside the point! It was a little bit later that I heard other kids in the band start mentioning this thing called "Phantom Regiment" I'd never heard of it, so I started looking up stuff about it. It was the fall of '08 and I happened to find a video of Spartacus online. It was a grainy, low video quality multi-cam rip, but that didn't matter. As soon as I heard that opening fanfare I was hooked. I was excited just watching the show on my computer screen, and when the "good guy" drum major killed the head DM and took over I flipped. To me this was the greatest thing I had seen. The rest came quickly as I heard about other corps and tried to listen and watch as much of it as I could. I got to go see the San Antonio show last summer and that just blew my mind. The sound, the precision, the beauty of it. It was amazing. I'm gonna be going to the San Antonio (Or wherever they're having it this year) show again this summer and there's a very good chance that I'll be trying out for a certain Texas corps come next fall -
Phantom '03 closer. Anything from Phantom '06 Crown '07, pretty much any of it since its all recognizable Something from the Cavaliers since all the motion would be really impressive, I'm not too familiar with their shows though, but I would say Machine.

Your 2010 Drum Corps Resolution
EuphD09 replied to fifer's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
In no particular order: -Make it to a show this summer -Audition and make it into a corps -
I love both corps and have a lot of respect for the Cavaliers but my #1 corps has to be the Phantom Regiment. It's their class and their music and everything, even down to their uniforms. Their shows always just demand my attention and pull me in.

Vanguard, there's no contest IMO

So who all here is auditioning for a corps this year?

Hah! That sounds just like my plan for next year, same two corps, same instrument. Good luck! -

They decided to take the summer off one year to be fair to the other corps...and their B corps won WC finals. -

They marched The Planets one year. Every single one, even the ones that Holst didn't write music for. It had billions of movements and nobody got bored. -
running starts....good or bad?
EuphD09 replied to Bob984's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I liked Crown's running start a lot this year, I thought it was pretty effective. But at the same time I do like traditional starts and think that the drum major should definitely salute before every performance. -
In my HS marching band our 3rd movement this year is actually Asphalt Cocktail, it's a really fun piece to play/march and if this news is true then I definitely can't wait to see the Bluecoats do it!

I'm a bit north of Austin, one of my old band directors taught with PR and really got me into it, my current marching director also taught with PR this past summer, also used to teach Revolution. Our new brass director marched with SCV and taught with the Blue Stars I think. So yeah, I'm fortunate enough to have a lot of DCI folks teaching around me! :)

Hey DCP! I'm kind of a newb when it comes to Drum Corps, just got into it about a year ago but it's taken my interest by storm. I've already decided I want to march in a couple of years, thinking of trying for Crossmen for the 2011 season and after that trying for Phantom till I age-out. (Which means '14 would be my last year). I obviously play Baritone/Euphonium (on my 2nd year after switching from trumpet) and I completely love it. Anyways, that's just a little about me. Hello again to everyone on the forums and I'm glad to be here!
