  1. I agree wtih you. That is why I qualified my statement at the end. We will see more movement now that the head-to-heads have started. By the end of this weekend, we should have enough info to see where corps really stand at this early point in the season.
  2. TOC?? Here are the averages of the top 10 corps through 22 June, 2011. Look who is already ahead of some TOC Corps. It can, and will be done. I predict that at least one TOC will not repeat if it continues next year. There are at least two corps that could be in the mix that have yet to compete. Now that the head-to-heads have started with on TOC/Non-TOC corps, we will see even more movement. The Cavaliers 74.583 Blue Devils 73.400 The Cadets 72.813 Carolina Crown 72.625 Phantom Regiment 69.988 Bluecoats 69.750 Madison Scouts 69.100 Santa Clara Vanguard 68.638 Blue Stars 66.817 Blue Knights 65.100
  3. Conspiracy theory: The wide variations in scores has to do with the judges on day 2 not having the scores from day 1. Someone had to say it.
  4. Ladies and Gentlemen. Pioneer camp is this coming weekend. let's see how things go this weekend before asking for news from a camp that hasn't happened yet. Lets hope they can get the numbers they need.
  5. I can't begin to tell you how much this story has touched me. I only got back into drum corps last year after being out of it for decades. These stories that I have read about Bob, as well as many others, that saved so many corps in the 80s while others were dropping out remind me how much I enjoyed, and now enjoy again, my drum corps days. Being a midwest guy, I can truly appreciate all that Bob did for so many. Thank you for sharing your kind words about a man I never had the priviledge to meet. Only to know about from those who were there while I marched with another corps.
  6. As much of a Drum Corps guy as I am, my son would never forgive me if I didn't add the JMU Marching Royal Dukes into the conversation.
  7. I am part of the DC crowd. Was still holding out hope for the show to be moved back to Annapolis like it was originally planned.
  8. Now that I have seen Regiment's rep, there is no doubt in my mind that they are my most anticipated corps to see this summer.
  9. Bridgemen Muchachos 27th Lancers Guardsmen Kingsmen Oops, I'm old and I can't remember anything....... What was I talking about?
  10. I would prefer DC as well. Especially considering that I planned to take over 100 students. When it was first listed as Annapolis, my sign-up sheet of students grew faster than I could type. We had over 100 students committed within two days. Unfortunately, I seriously doubt that George Hopkins will let this show go away from Northern NJ. A three day weekend for the Cadets in their hometown with DCI East leading up to the TOC show on Sunday is too good a deal for the Cadets.
  11. I know of three schools on the west side of DC with great facilities that are ready to host. Unfortunately, that is still over an hour away from Annapolis. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr......
  12. Annapolis was the original location. U of MD is another good college stadium as we learned back a decade ago for finals. The pro staiudms in DC and Baltimore just don't work well for a Drum Corps show. Having marched many years with the Redskins at both RFK and FedEx Field, I can speak from experience on those two.
  13. I see that the TOC show on August 7 has been marked TBA for a location. Looks like Rutgers is no longer an option. They should move this show back to the DC area like it was originally intended. Let's hear some options for this show.
  14. OK, let’s go back to the original question and get the "CURRENT" answer. This was a request for an explanation. I believe they wanted to know what the "CURRENT" and "APPROVED" G8 is and how will it be implemented. Arguing over what didn't pass, however important, is not relevant to this year. Please post the "APPROVED" G8 process so that it can be understood by those who want to know and leave the "UNAPPROVED" off with no interpretation or comments. Thank you.
  15. MBI and Cabs seem to be holding things close to the vest. Two weeks after their first camp and still no word? Was it just playing scales and warm-ups? Inquiring minds want to know!
  16. I would accept that as a better reason than the possible negatives. SD has a great staff and an opportunity to improve. Would hate to see them miss a year.
  17. Mike, I see you are a marching band judge. I pray that you are never asked to judge drum corps shows since you seem to have a pre-conceived opinion of Pioneer before they even put their show on the field this year. I also pray that you don't have pre-conceived opinions of those marching bands you judge. It is judges like you that give adjudication a bad name.
  18. I am glad to see that you were able to get a response and even more happy to see that people are stepping up to the plate to help. Pioneer is set to really grow this year and with a little help, may actually turn a few heads during their 50th anniversary year.
  19. Having been a member of Pioneer many, many years ago, I can honestly say that there are strong difficulties in dealing with Roman. I had my own personal outs with Roman as a marching member. I also know enough former staff to know that things haven't changed with him over the years. However, I must give him all the credit for keeping the organization alive and functioning thru many circumstances. Challenges that people outside the corps will never know, or understand. I would love to see Pioneer improve competitively, but I know that as they are "getting better every day," they are doing what everyone else should be striving to do. Pioneer does so much for youth in building character and developing students into fine young adults. Many of us, who now wear a ring, owe a big thank you to Pioneer for developing our skills in the early years. If you think you can do better, put your money where your text is and step up to the plate. I know that I plan on doing that this year and hope that all of the former Pioneer do the same in this 50th year of Pioneer/The Imperials of St. Patrick’s/Thunderbolts/The Thing/I hope I got them all.
  20. Does that mean they are planning on being walked on by the Blue Devils ? This is too funny!
  21. As for the Cadets, I concede. Yuengling is my beer of choice when I want to go on the cheap. Carolina I had to go with an SC brewery since they are officially in Ft. Mill, SC Vanguard is the Anchor, You are right on that one as well. I still like the PBR for Pioneer in honor of Roman B.
