  1. Yes they are, mostly high school kids. Having guest teched them this summer, I can tell you that they remind me of us in 1994, young, rough around the edges, but a lot of potential for the future.
  2. I disagree. I think this is their weakest program in their run. If they are going to be beat, this is the year.
  3. Congratulations Bobby! A well deserved honor my brother. Oh, and the official announcement left out that you also marched in the Sunrisers, where I know you spent quite a few years.
  4. If we horn players can subdivide in our heads, why can't you drummers do the same?
  5. I have our 1987 DCI Prelims performance on VHS (only filmed from hi-camera). I also have a copy of a tape my friend's parents made of us at TOS II in 1987, before we cut out the "What I Did For Love" part of the Opener. One of these days I need to convert them to digital. I also have a few brass judges' tapes from 1987 in my closet somewhere. What I am really looking for is the audio recording of our show music that we made March 1988, two weeks before the junior corps folded. It was the only recording ever made of the 1988 Bridgemen. I almost got a copy of it, but had to wait until after the staff meeting to make a copy of it. I got impatient and said that I'll just copy it at the next camp. Two weeks later the corps folded. I've been kicking myself for my impatience ever since.
  6. Several members of my corps said they were so busy watching themselves that they got out of step marching off the field.
  7. I like this result! Then again, I am biased.
  8. You forgot Bridgemen Alumni, Cabs Alumni, Sky Alumni, BSGK, Hurcs, and Cadets. Each organization has there own appeal and people will march where they want to march, no matter how far away it is.
  9. I hate this! It seems to be an unfortunate reality in drum corps today. I'm a traditionalist and stuck with my competitive corps for 17 years through thick and thin, plus multiple staff and management changes. I eventually left because of financial reasons (I couldn't afford it anymore), wanting more free time to spend with family and having lost the desire to compete anymore, especially after finally winning a title with them which left nothing else to accomplish in my competitive career. I suppose those organizations who lose those staff loyal members need to figure out how to build loyalty to the corps itself.
  10. I believe winning Class A is better, especially when it comes to recruiting for the following season. Which corps would you join, one that won or came in 10th place? I marched in 2007 Sunrisers and would have been peeved royally if that title had been denied us because of some stupid DCA rule, especially as that was my first title and took me 16 years to earn. I agree with you that it doesn't matter if the Class A Champion scores higher than the 10th place corps. If they are better, then the scores should reflect that.
  11. I looked it up Tom. 1. 2007 Sunrisers - 83.988 (Finals) 2. 2008 Alliance - 83.838 (Prelims) 3. 2007 Governaires - 83.738 (Prelims) 4. 2007 Governaires - 83.188 (Finals) 5. (Tie) 2007 Sunrisers - 83.050 (Prelims) and 2010 Fusion Core - 83.050 (Secaucus, NJ -- 2 weeks before DCA Championships)
  12. Excelsior performed in Kingston, NY last weekend and scored a 57.175. I didn't get to see them perform as I was busy with my own corps at the time.
  13. Regal Commerce Center Stadium 18 in North Brunswick, NJ. Going there with three of my cousins.
  14. Fusion is having a camp weekend. Lots of things to clean and tweak.
  15. Fusion is competing in Class A this year. While we are are larger than last year, we have about 57 members by my count.
  16. Fusion is supposed to practice at Seaside Park tomorrow. Did the storm effect the park that bad?
  17. Fran, I remember hearing stories from guys who marched that year that Sun beat Hurcs by 6 points a week before Finals. That makes it seem like it came from left field. A friend of mine marched Hurcs that year and he said they were shocked that they had won and also said he didn't think that they deserved to win.
  18. Nope, we're not big enough. Our stated goal this season is to win the Class A title.
