  1. My thoughts exactly. And believe me, as a guy who was a strong Cadets apologist last year, I really want something good from them.
  2. I... am not excited if "Sound of Silence" is the direction they are going this year. Following the Disturbed cover, it felt like EVERYBODY did a version in their show at some point, from high school groups to college bands and even a few drum corps. The Cadets doing it now feels like hopping on the bandwagon waaaaaaaaaay after it took off, to the point where its momentum is slowing down quickly. Unless the versions and the concepts they put out this summer are both 1) powerfully effective and 2) UNIQUE, this has the potential to be underwhelming. Or worse, boring.
  3. You are just the CUTEST when you play the "I'm gonna catch someone in a contradiction to make myself look smart" game! Also, as Mike pointed out, those "rules for things other than just safety" aren't coming from DCI, but societal norms. If a corps wants to do a Caligula show and march with no pants or underwear, that's their artistic choice. They also know that they will lose a heavy majority of spectators who will not want to see a performance of that sort in public. These designers may be artistic and expressive, but they also know that, first and foremost, THEY HAVE TO PUT BUTTS IN SEATS. You don't need rules limiting artistic design in that matter, because the designers already know not to do that or else they will lose those butts.
  4. I thought Marie always seemed to have a thing against the two all-male corps back in her judging days? Surprising she's working with one now.
  5. You mean a top half of Finals spot, right? They finished 10th that year, less than half a point from Boston in 9th. Absolutely fantastic show.
  6. It also depends on how the question was worded... if it's "are YOU in favor of allowing females into the corps," then I can imagine the response being less in favor. If it's "if the administration agreed to allow females into the corps, would you support their decision," then I can see the support being higher. Also, our favorite SubReddit has gone to task showing that the issue has already been taken care of. At this point it should be a non-issue, but the damage may already be done.
  7. While it clearly states that the issue will be addressed next week, and that the organization is likely to have a progressive stance moving forward, the language used in the article and the slobbering over another individual/corps who takes a more progressive view at this moment seems to be attempting to villainize the Scouts. Dann is one of the nicest guys I know in the activity, and this seems more of a situation where the corps was simply not prepared to respond to a request of this nature. Yes, something like this should have certainly been anticipated at some point, but I don't think there was any intended malice in the denial of admission. The article certainly does not share my sentiments, and I fear that regardless of the results of next week's meeting the corps' reputation will be damaged if this article really catches fire.
  8. I swear, whenever I read your posts the only image that pops into my mind is Ben Affleck's character from The Accountant.
  9. 100 pages before mid-October... you people really are something else.
  10. Did y... did you even watch the broadcast last night?
  11. Paul will forever be my one of my favorite show announcers. A great man who loved the activity and made it accessible to new fans all over the New England region. YOU!!! mayhavethefieldincompetition! RIP
  12. Hey @Stu, that little [+] button is the multi-quote tool. Use that to put all your responses into one post so the rest of us don't get entire pages of just you rambling.
  13. Via Google Maps: Rochester, by road, is two hours closer to the Twin Cities than Annapolis is. 1/2 hour closer to Cincinnati. While I agree that Finals should probably drift a little further west, the north/south aspect of Annapolis vs. Rochester gives the advantage to the northernmost stadium. This now opens the debate over what should be done for the southern corps, but that's a problem I'd have to come back to later.
  14. Recaps were recently posted... Bucs score 99 or higher in all subcaptions except Visual Ensemble Execution (a 98), and both Guard subcaptions. Only outscored in both Guard subcaptions and Percussion Content (a 100 for Cadets2!!!) That's dominance, folks. EDIT: Here's the link.
  15. DCA IS FINISHED FOR THE YEAR! LET THE INSANITY COMMENCE!!!
  16. 1st- 98.93 Buccaneers All other captions
  17. 5th- 93.38 White Sabers High Honor Guard
